You came back? You mean you are surviving your TBR stack? I’m very happy to see you today and I do hope your back can handle a loaded backpack. You sure you don’t want to borrow a wagon? If you change your mind, come on back and get one. I have a bonfire going out here if you want to stop and make some s’mores. We can sit and talk about books while you warm up for you trek through the woods of the Five Fall Favorites.
If you are new, here’s the basic rundown. Check out my books. Visit the blogs on my team. Head over to Kate’s blog (link on a cute image below) to find her books, and then set off on a bookish adventure to all the other teams and blogs and watch your TBR stack grow!

I am not one of those people who only read one or two genres. There are a few I won’t read, and some I just don’t find that I want to read them. But now and then I find an exception. Today’s books are those exceptions.

Titus Ray Thriller series
by Luana Ehrlich
I don’t usually read thrillers. They are too . . . “thriller” for my tastes most times. But this series. Yes, I didn’t want to put the books down, and yes, I went right into the next one (good thing I had KU at the time!), but they didn’t make me feel terrified or like a bad guy was behind every bush, and I didn’t have any nightmares. Maybe because they are written in first person.

Watson Twins Cozy Mystery
by Chelsea Michelle
I’m not a “cozy mystery” fan. At least not usually. The idea of everyday people being smarter than the police and finding dead people all over just isn’t my cup of tea. Or coffee. But this series doesn’t feel like that. And not all the mysteries involve dead people. (Actually, only one does right now.)

The Chronic Warrior Chronicles (Super Heroes)
by Angie Thompson
Super heroes? People who can do impossible things? No thanks. Not something I like. Until I decided to take a chance on Angie’s first episode. The characters were what hooked me. And now I can overlook, or go along with, or enjoy the impossibles of this series and look forward to each new episode.

The Man on the Buckskin Horse
by Rachel Kovaciny
I’m not a huge fan of fairy tale retellings. Not much of a fan of fairy tales either. But when Rachel takes them out west, leaves out the magic, and gives you delightful stories, I can change my mind. I need to get more of her books and keep reading.

A Child’s Geography
by Terri Johnson
School books? Yep. I picked one of these up and loved it! Then I had to read the others. It was like taking a trip to other countries, eating in restaurants, sleeping in inns, exploring the countryside. I just wish there were more of this series because I’d love to read them.
There you are. Not just five books, but five genres I don’t usually read. I wasn’t sure if I could find enough, but I did. I’d like to know if you’ve read any of these books. And are there genres you don’t read?
Giveaway Time!
You do NOT want to miss this year’s giveaway! We will have two winners this year since we have so many bloggers! So be sure you get your entries in. Some you can do every day.

What genres do you not usually read? Or do you read any and all genres? Have you discovered books in genres you didn’t think you’d like that you actually really like? I’d love to know!

What’s funny is most of the books on this list I either have read or really want to read. I mean, thrillers and fairytale retellings are both genres I read and write. XD
That’s great! 😀 Then your TBR stack shouldn’t get mad at me today. 😉
All of these are new to me!
Oh, then you have more books to read. 😀 Do you need a wagon yet? 😉
Okay, if you can give your endorsement to books that are cozy mysteries AND include coffee, I think I must pay attention! Like you, fairytale retellings aren’t my thing, but I’ve read Elisabeth Grace Foley, so I know I can certainly enjoy western fairytale retellings.
Hanna
I know. Cozy mystery AND coffee? I promise I’m not sick. 😛
Ooh, good choices! Some of these are genres I don’t normally read either. I’m especially interested in the thrillers and the geography. I have read one of the Watson Twin Mysteries and enjoyed it! (But cozy mysteries are definitely in my comfort zone, haha.)
You should try the Titus Ray books, Kelsey! And the geography books are such fun. You should read the rest of the Watson Twin series.
I’ve only read Angie’s Chronic Warrior Chronicles, mostly because of your recommendation since I don’t read superhero stories either. And I really enjoyed it! Some of these others look good too, especially the Watson Twins!
Oh, yay! Glad I got get you into Angie’s CWC. 😀 If you read the Watson Twins, let me know.
I’ve read and enjoyed all of the middle ones (ESPECIALLY BUCKSKIN HORSE!!!) but I have the Titus books and haven’t read them yet—and the last ones look so good!
Just be warned, Kats, that when you start the Titus Ray books, you’ll want to keep reading the next one and the next one. 😀
I think you would enjoy the geography books.
I love the Watson Twins mysteries, and I have the newest one waiting for me on my Kindle.
Oh, yay! Don’t delay too long in reading it. 😉
I don’t read horror, sci-fi, super heroes, thrillers, suspense, or cozy mysteries. It appears that my do not read list is longer than my read list. 😉
I’m sure if you thought of all the genres and sub-genres you do read it would be more than this list. 😀 But I know it can feel the opposite. I never thought I’d read super heroes or cozy mysteries or “thrillers.” (I wouldn’t call Titus Ray “thrillers” but that’s how they are labeled.)
The Titus Ray series sounds interesting! And while it my usual genre either, one of these days I’ll hopefully get to the Chronic Warrior Chronicles. They’ve interested me for awhile.
Titus Ray is interesting! Oh, I think you might like the CWC.
I’ve been wanting to read Rachel Kovaciny and the Watson Twins for a while, and the Titus Ray books sound really good!! I don’t read these genres usually either, but these books look fun. 😀 And I wish I’d had those Geography books in school!
I wish I had had those geography books in school too!
Yes, I think you would enjoy these other books even if they aren’t your usual genres, Lyds.
I have just started reading Angie’s Chronic Warrior Chronicles, and I can tell I’m going to like them! 🙂 The thriller series you mentioned sounds awesome!
Oh yay! Yes, Angie’s CWC pulls you in even if you don’t think you’ll like it. And you should give Titus Ray a try.
I need to catch up on Watson Twins Mysteries! And The Man on the Buckskin Horse sounds good, I added it.
Yes, you should catch up on Chelsea and Michelle. 😀
Ooooo the Titus Ray books sounds great! Glad to hear they’re on KU!!
I’ll have to look up the Geography books for my kiddos world history lessons! Yay!
Yes! Read the Titus Ray books!
And yes to those geography books for your kids! Go take virtual trips to other countries. 😀
