I am not one of those people who only read one or two genres. There are a few I won’t read, and some I just don’t find that I want to read them. But now and then I find an exception. Today’s books are those exceptions.
Titus Ray Thriller series

I don’t usually read thrillers. They are too . . . “thriller” for my tastes most times. But this series. Yes, I didn’t want to put the books down, and yes, I went right into the next one (good thing I had KU at the time!), but they didn’t make me feel terrified or like a bad guy was behind every bush, and I didn’t have any nightmares. Maybe because they are written in first person.
Watson Twins Cozy Mystery

I’m not a “cozy mystery” fan. At least not usually. The idea of everyday people being smarter than the police and finding dead people all over just isn’t my cup of tea. Or coffee. But this series doesn’t feel like that. And not all the mysteries involve dead people. (Actually, only one does right now.)
The Chronic Warrior Chronicles (Super Heroes)

Super heroes? People who can do impossible things? No thanks. Not something I like. Until I decided to take a chance on Angie’s first episode. The characters were what hooked me. And now I can overlook, or go along with, or enjoy the impossibles of this series and look forward to each new episode.
The Man on the Buckskin Horse

I’m not a huge fan of fairy tale retellings. Not much of a fan of fairy tales either. But when Rachel takes them out west, leaves out the magic, and gives you delightful stories, I can change my mind. I need to get more of her books and keep reading.
A Child’s Geography

School books? Yep. I picked one of these up and loved it! Then I had to read the others. It was like taking a trip to other countries, eating in restaurants, sleeping in inns, exploring the countryside. I just wish there were more of this series because I’d love to read them.

Okay, if you can give your endorsement to books that are cozy mysteries AND include coffee, I think I must pay attention! Like you, fairytale retellings aren’t my thing, but I’ve read Elisabeth Grace Foley, so I know I can certainly enjoy western fairytale retellings.

Ooh, good choices! Some of these are genres I don’t normally read either. I’m especially interested in the thrillers and the geography. I have read one of the Watson Twin Mysteries and enjoyed it! (But cozy mysteries are definitely in my comfort zone, haha.)
You should try the Titus Ray books, Kelsey! And the geography books are such fun. You should read the rest of the Watson Twin series.
I’ve only read Angie’s Chronic Warrior Chronicles, mostly because of your recommendation since I don’t read superhero stories either. And I really enjoyed it! Some of these others look good too, especially the Watson Twins!

I’ve read and enjoyed all of the middle ones (ESPECIALLY BUCKSKIN HORSE!!!) but I have the Titus books and haven’t read them yet—and the last ones look so good!
Just be warned, Kats, that when you start the Titus Ray books, you’ll want to keep reading the next one and the next one. 😀

I don’t read horror, sci-fi, super heroes, thrillers, suspense, or cozy mysteries. It appears that my do not read list is longer than my read list. 😉
I’m sure if you thought of all the genres and sub-genres you do read it would be more than this list. 😀 But I know it can feel the opposite. I never thought I’d read super heroes or cozy mysteries or “thrillers.” (I wouldn’t call Titus Ray “thrillers” but that’s how they are labeled.)
The Titus Ray series sounds interesting! And while it my usual genre either, one of these days I’ll hopefully get to the Chronic Warrior Chronicles. They’ve interested me for awhile.

I’ve been wanting to read Rachel Kovaciny and the Watson Twins for a while, and the Titus Ray books sound really good!! I don’t read these genres usually either, but these books look fun. 😀 And I wish I’d had those Geography books in school!
