New Books Tour – Day 2

August 27, 2019 by readanotherpage 5 Comments

Welcome back!

I hope you enjoy today’s posts featuring reviews and a few lessons learned.

I was going to post the first chapter of my book on here, and then I realized that it would make the post really long, so I did it the easy way. To read it, all you have to do is click the arrow button on this sample, and you don’t even have to leave the page!

Happy reading!

Lessons learned from A Brother is Born

We are stronger together than alone.  This applies in so many areas of life.  My areas of weakness may be your areas of strength.  Or maybe we’re weak in the same area and just need to know someone else has the same struggles.  God made us for community, even us introverts! Embrace the relationships He’s given you.

Inside jokes can be hazardous to your health—especially at the dinner table.  Actually, any joke can be hazardous at the dinner table.  Maybe check to make sure no one has a mouthful of food before making them laugh?  And then there’s the things that come out funny even though they weren’t meant to…

Never judge a person’s intelligence or ability by a single standard.  Some people are great at math; others are better with English.  Some people excel at art; others have a talent for music. Some people like to study from books; others prefer working with their hands.  We can easily fall into the trap of thinking certain areas are more important than others and unconsciously looking down on people who struggle with them.  Remember, everyone is a unique creation of God and has something of value to contribute to the world!

Don’t take up an offense for someone who’s not offended.  By all means, if someone’s being hurt, step in and help.  But don’t assume that just because you wouldn’t appreciate something, that means no one else would either.  I’ve had people come and apologize because someone told them they were being mean to me, when I had been having as much fun as they had!  Don’t stir up hard feelings that aren’t there. 🙂

For a big family, fast food is an adventure in chaos.  Actually, for a big family, almost everything is an adventure in chaos…

I just finished reading A Brother is Born and wow, it was great!! 👍 Hahaha, the fast food adventure…way too familiar. 😂 I think my favorite lesson from it was that everyone feels love in different ways–there’s no right or wrong way. People forget that a lot of times! And I’m more like Jess than Alex in terms of feeling loved, so that was also fun.

Yay! Glad you enjoyed it! 😀 Yes, it’s easy to forget that people aren’t all going to be like you. 😉

Agreed! I tend to be more like Alex, but I grew up with a bunch of brothers who are more like Jess, so that’s a lesson I definitely had to learn. 😉 And the fast food bit was 100% my family, unless we were making our lunches instead, which was even more wild! XD

Also, wow! You are fast! Glad you enjoyed it. 😀
