January Reading Recap

February 4, 2026 by readanotherpage Leave a Comment

It’s February! We still have some snow in the sheltered north places from the big winter storm that hit so much of the US. But it’s melting. Soon it will just be a memory.

It felt like January was kind of like that. January was filled with reading (and life), but that too will soon be a memory!

But how was my reading? Not only did I read 10 books for my Reading Challenge, but I somehow managed to get 31 books read! How?!

True, several of them were short stories. Some were novellas, and the rest were full novels.

I think I was in a rereading series mood because I read the entire Emily Abbott series and many of Janet Lambert‘s books with the same characters. Some were in one series, and others were from another series that overlaps.

And yes, I did read my book of the month: Through the Tunnel. I enjoyed getting a return visit to that story and those characters.

I don’t plan to read an average of a book a day this month, but since I was so close to doing it towards the end, I made it happen. It was fun to do it in January.

January was also a month I deleted a number of books from my kindle. Once I saw someone like my review of a book on Goodreads, but I didn’t recognize the title. When I went to the book, the synopsis didn’t sound familiar, so I read my review. Some thing struck me in that review. I had made a comment about enjoying the book but probably wouldn’t remember it later. How true that was because I still didn’t remember it! In fact, I had the book on my kindle as one that I hadn’t read. After reading my review, I deleted that book and the rest of the books from the series because if I couldn’t even remember anything about the first book even after I read the synopsis and my review, was it worth my time to read the rest of the series? It might be a great series for some people. Some readers may love the characters and the stories. It just wasn’t for me.

Not every book is for every reader.

And that’s okay. Really, it is. Just because someone else LOVES a book, it doesn’t mean you will have the same feelings. I may adore some stories that you think are bleh. I’m fine with that.

If we were all the same, life would be so dull and boring. And some poor authors wouldn’t have anyone loving their books.

And some readers love to reread. *raises hand* Like me! While others read a book once and then pass it on. Some collect books but don’t read them more than once. Others collect books and reread them many times.

Wow, I didn’t know I was going to wax so long about books and reading. I was just going to tell you how my January reading went.

How was your January reading? Many books? Few books? No books? Oh, please tell me you read at least part of a book!

Did you find a favorite book in January? Did you find any to add to your TBR stack? Did you recommend any books to anyone?
