I Wish I’d See More Blog Tag

February 17, 2026 by readanotherpage 4 Comments

What I’d Love to See More of in Christian Fiction (a Blog Tag by Iona!)

The Guidelines

  1. Post the Guidelines on your post!
  2. Pick one item from the post that tagged you, and give it a shout out in your post that you agree.
  3. Link back to the original Story Blossoms post, and who tagged you. (Thanks, Ryana!)
  4. Make a list of what you’re so ready to see in Christian Fiction (providing it’s wholesome!) that you haven’t seen much of, or at all yet.
  5. Challenge 5 bloggers by tagging them!
  6. Do these in your preferred order, do be wholesome and biblically honored, and be yourself.

In agreement with Ryana…

Romances without Miscommunication Tropes.

Yes! Yes! And yes!! I am SO tired of enjoying a story only to have someone see or hear something and instead of asking or talking to the person, they believe it and act accordingly. Ugh! Talk people!

Making Christianity Real not just added for Flavor

Please, can’t we have more books where the characters actually act like Christians? Ones who pray about who to marry, what job they should do, how to talk to someone, not just “bless our food” or “We’re going to die, so help us God!” I want to be encouraged, challenged, reminded that living the Christian life is real!

Siblings Getting Along – Especially Teens

I am sick and tired of books where no one cares, or they all expect the kids to bicker and fight. For teens to not like each other and pick on one another constantly. Oh, a parent might say to be nice, or something, but it’s just normal. Can’t we have siblings who love each other? Ones who might tease and who might get on each other’s nerves now and then, but who are each others biggest cheerleaders, stanchest supporters, and strongest defenders. Let’s have siblings who love the Lord and each other.

Younger Kids Part of Story

If you are going to have young kids in the story, could they please be more than the scenery? They don’t have to be the main characters, but let them be kids instead of props. Let them live and talk and be themselves instead of on page for a few lines then back to the nanny and out of the story for six chapters.

Large and Happy Families

I want big, happy families! I don’t mean 2 kids and a dog. I’m talking 5-8 kids at least! Come on, let’s have fun.

And there you are. Some of the things I’d love to see or see more of in books. Or less of in some cases. What about you? If you have a blog, consider yourself tagged.

Oh, yes! I love all of these. Especially little kids being in the story. I suppose it’s why my youngest characters feel so dear to me.

😀 Glad you approve. Now we can add them to our own stories. 😀
