Ellie Claire Art Journals– Reviewed

November 13, 2018 by readanotherpage 10 Comments

I had the opportunity to review these three lovely art journals designed by Ellie Claire! I love journals and write in one every day. I also love art, though I don’t do much with it right now. Getting a chance to try out three different journals was exciting!

Aren’t they so pretty? They all have a very nice, thick front and back cover, but the spines are more like fabric so they stay open so much easier! [Benefit #1]

This is one of the pages from “The Illustrated Word” coloring journal. There are plenty of lined pages to write on [Benefit #2], and every-other right hand page is a coloring page from an old Bible! So, not only do I get to journal, I get to color pictures! [Benefit #3] And there are colored pictures showing what the original pictures look like as well as a line telling you where that particular picture is from. Mini history lesson here! [Benefit #4] I tried a sharpie on one of the pages and it didn’t bleed through! Now I can use pencil or a marker to color.

These next two pictures are from the “Illuminate Your Story Journal” which is the smallest of the three books. It’s pages are not as thick, so I’m going to stick with pens or colored pencils. This journal doesn’t have many pages to write on, but if you don’t write much, it would be perfect for you! Do you see that lovely A? It goes through the entire alphabet and teaches you how to draw your own letters like that. [Benefit #5] It also gives instructions on drawing other swirly-things, flowers, do-dads, and other embellishments so you too can create lovely masterpieces. [Benefit #6]

This journal also has a mixture of quotes and Bible verses. Here’s one I just love.

Dear Lord, grant me the grace of wonder. Surprise me, amaze me, awe me in every crevice of Your universe…. I do not ask to see the reason for it all; I ask only to share the wonder of it all.

Abraham Joshua Heschel

In this Journal you’ll also find a Keepsake pocket in the back, a ribbon bookmark, an elastic band to hold the journal shut, and a pen holder on the spine. [Benefits #7, #8, #9, & #10] I can’t wait to start trying out this journal and it’s instructions! 🙂

Now we come to the final book: “Faith and Lettering Journal” which is just so pretty!

Let’s start with the cover which has such lovely texture. (I think you can see it in the picture.) And it has a pen holder on the spine [Benefit #11].

The pages are not thick enough to use a Sharpie, but I’ve used a nice black pen with no problem. There are not many pages for journaling, but there are some. Many of the pages have a full colored picture on the opposite page. (Ideas! [Benefit #12] Yay!)

But that’s not the only thing this lovely journal has!

Ready?

It has pages with a Bible verse already lettered, followed by one for you to trace, and then four places for you to practice doing it yourself! [Benefit #13] I’m still working on the tracing, but it sure is fun, and I can’t wait to start trying my hand at drawing it myself.

It also has some other art designs to learn and different lettering. I’m going to have fun with all this lettering! [Benefits #14 & #15]

This final picture is a bit hard to tell, but there are small dot grids on the pages. Time to practice creating your own little quote designs. It also gives you samples of different ones you can copy, or try your own ideas. [Benefit #16]

What do you think? Do these sound like journals you’d enjoy using? To learn more about these three books and get your own copies, visit Ellie Claire Archives at Worthy Publishing Group. (No, I’m not an affiliate, but I do like these journals.)

The Faith And Lettering journal looks like a lot of fun! I love lettering. 😉 What version of the Bible do these books use?

Lettering seems to be popular. 🙂 And no wonder, it’s fun!
Each journal has a mixture of versions for the Bible verses, which I thought was nice. They probably have 3-5 different versions in each one.
