Book #23 Christmas Day in the Morning

December 23, 2020 by readanotherpage 4 Comments

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve! Are you ready? Do you need another children’s picture book? Perhaps a story that can suggest a Christmas gift that doesn’t cost any money?

Christmas Day in the Morning by Pearl S. Buck

Christmas Day in the Morning by Pearl S. Buck
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What a sweet story! It really shows that it’s not the money that goes into a gift that counts, it’s the love. I had a smile on my face when I reached the end. It might put some idea into a child’s head of what they could do for someone without money.
The illustrations were lovely and detailed.
I know this will be a story to enjoy for years.

What sort of things have you given as Christmas gifts that didn’t cost anything or very little? Do you like to buy or make your gifts? Have you read this story before?

When I was little our library had a Christmas program where we could “make money” to buy gifts if we read for a certain amount of time. Of course I always loved to do that (even if the gifts were a bit cheap). Normally, I think I like buying a gift, though maybe it’s more like buying the pieces and putting it together myself… I try to be thrifty. And no, I haven’t read this book before. But I’ve read other stories by the same author, so I’m sure I will enjoy this one!

Oh, that’s a fun idea to get kids to read more.
When I was young I used to make most of my gifts, but it’s easier to buy them now. 🙂
