Happy Wednesday and welcome to another full day of the Five Fall Favorites! Did you make it through yesterday without any bag handles breaking under the weight of your new books? I have a couple extra wagons if you need to borrow them. Come on, let’s go look at books together! If you need a snack, I have some apple pie here. Help yourself.

This is a genre I know a lot of people don’t read. They either think all Non-Fiction is boring, equate it with school and so are convinced they shouldn’t like it, or just don’t want to take the chance that they might like something that is Non-Fiction. But I like it. I don’t read as much of it as I do fiction, but there are biographies, Christian living, history, and so much more! It was a struggle to decide just which of these books I was going to share.
Adorned

I read this book at the beginning of the year and it was SO good! Some things I’d already known, but some things I hadn’t even thought about. I would definitely recommend reading it if you haven’t.
Opened Treasures
by Frances Ridley Havergal
Good for every day of the year, or just for now and then when you need a bit of encouragement or challenge. The devotionals are very short. Just the right size to read in a minute or two and give you something to ponder and think about for the rest of the day.
Reminisce Books

I absolutely love these books! I have a whole collection of them, and they are such fun to read! Filled with stories of the people who actually lived and grew up, and fell in love, and fought wars in those years. They are full of stories and pictures and even old ads.
Lost in the Middle
by Paul David Tripp
As someone who isn’t considered a “young person” anymore, this book was encouraging and challenging at the same time. It helped me understand some things a little better.
Seven from Heaven
by Kenny & Bobbi McCaughey
I remember when these septuplets were born. Their book is a story of God’s amazing gifts not only of seven babies, but of the grace and strength to say no to the pressure of others who thought they should kill some of the babies before they were even born. It’s a story of hope and family. I need to go reread it.

*brings Katja an empty wagon to borrow* Yep, Havergal has a devotional. And it’s so good! If you can get it and Adorned, do it! They are worth it.

Me too! I was first introduced to the magazines at my grandma’s house in PA. She discovered I liked them and got me a subscription for Christmas. Now I love the books.

Are the Reminisce books kinda like the Chicken Soup for the Soul? I’ve never heard of any of these either! Good stuff!
Um, I’m not sure. I’ve never read any Chicken Soup for the Soul books. The Reminisce are glossy pages, full of real stories the readers of Reminisce magazine sent in. Some have pictures, some don’t. They usually divide each book into “chapters” with a different topic in each one. They are such fun to read!
Oh gotcha! It does sound similar. I’ll have to look into those!
