Welcome to Read Another Page’s 2nd Reading Challenge. Since this blog and website is all about reading, and everyone seemed to enjoy last year’s challenge, I thought we should do another one.
Are you ready to join in the fun?
This challenge goes from January 1st, through June 30th, 2019.
The challenge is simple. Read a book that begins with each letter of the alphabet (articles such as A, An, and The are not counted). For example: “Little Women” would be under “L,” but “The Runaway” would be under “R” not “T”. The letters Q, X, and Z can just be in the title and don’t have to be the first letter of the title.
Leave comments with what book title(s) you read so I can add them to the list and mark you down. Also, every good book deserves a review, so you get extra bonus points if you review the books you read. (You can review them on Amazon, Goodreads, or your own blog.) Just leave the link for each review so I can share it with others.
For every 6 books you read, you can enter the giveaway for a kindle of one of my full length books. (Winner gets to choose). And for each 6 books you review (from the books read for the challenge) you get another entry. And everyone who reads at least 12 books (that’s 2 books a month) will get a free kindle copy of one of my short stories. So everyone can be a winner.
That doesn’t sound too complicated, does it?
Here’s the list of categories (and they don’t have to be read in any certain order).
- A
- B
- C
- D
- E
- F
- G
- H
- I
- J
- K
- L
- M
- N
- O
- P
- Q (somewhere in the title)
- R
- S
- T
- U
- V
- W
- X (somewhere in the title)
- Y
- Z (somewhere in the title)
I was going to give you a pdf download, but since it is just the alphabet, I didn’t think you really needed it. π I would recommend that you can jot down what books you want to read for different categories (I love finding several books at once so I can easily move on to the next book). When you have finished a book, let me know and I’ll add it to the Books Read page, and mark you down on the Reading Companions page. (This year I’m just going to be adding the letter of the Alphabet so you can tell what letters you’ve already read.) If you need suggestions (though I doubt you will with this challenge) feel free to check out the Books Read page, or send me an email.
Comments are working now! Thanks for fixing that, Rebekah.
I’m in for this challenge.
Yay! π I realized that I have books that will work for this challenge, your’s, the Novel one on GR and my GR reading challenge.
Sweet! You go, girl!
π
Yay, comments are up!
π
I’ll give it a shot! I don’t know how far I’ll get, but it’ll be fun to see what I end up with. π
Although I already own all of your currently-published books so… X’D
Yay! I’ll get you added. π
I guess that just means I need to get some new books published. π
Sounds logical to me. π
Also, here’s my first book! *hums* Let’s start at the very beginning…
The Assassin’s Daughter
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2479347074?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1

I have read and review Grace In Strange Disguise by Christine Dillion! Here’s the link: https://kayleeskindofwrites.blogspot.com/2019/01/review-request-grace-in-strange-disguise.html
Congratulations on being the first to complete a book!
Cool! Thanks!
π
Not even going to try to keep that streak going. π

Wow! You’ve been busy. π I’ll get all these added as soon as I can. Great job!
Hey! I would love to participate and actually got all ready a week ago. I have already read 3 books off my list. Do they count still? If they do, they are Noelle’s Gift, by Amanda Tero, Quest for Leviathan, by the same author, and Mr. Pipes come to America, by Douglas Bond, Betsy Ross by Peter Roop & Connie Roop. Can’t wait to finish more books!
Great to have you join, Lissa!
As long as you read those books in 2019 they count. I’m going to assume they were read in the right year and will add them. π
I read The Vow by Jody Hedlund for V. And I reviewed it but the post doesn’t go live until the 22nd of this month, here is the link: https://kayleeskindofwrites20.wordpress.com/2019/01/22/the-vow-review
I also read Zephaniah from the Bible.
Great! I’ll get it added. π
Thank you!
I forgot to say I read and reviewed Homeward by Angela R. Watts! The blog post with my review will go live on the 8th of January! Here’s the link: https://kayleeskindofwrites20.wordpress.com/2019/01/08/homeward
Sounds good. You’re really moving!
Awesome! Thank you!
For P: I read and reviewed Passing Lincoln by Michael Rogers. Review to post 2/5/19. Link here:https://kayleeskindofwrites20.wordpress.com/2019/02/05/b-r-passing-lincoln
Great job!
Thanks! How are you doing on the challenge?
I’ve read 3 books. I’m on my 4th, but I’m not rushing this year so maybe I’ll get more writing done. π
Ah, I hope you get writing done! I’m going to take a little break from reading to do writing. π
π I’m working on it. I have around 3k words written so far this month. Not a lot, but I’m hoping to keep the momentum going. π
That’s more than I’ve done. Great job!
Thanks.
1. Code of Ethics by Lynette Eason 1/3/19
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2502469685
Got your first one done! Nice! π I’ve heard about this series but haven’t tried any yet. Maybe I should.
Oh, it’s so good! Here are the books in order, because order is important if you don’t want anything spoiled.
1. Oath of Honor
2. Called to Protect
2.5. Code of Ethics
3. Code of Valor
4. Vow of Justice (coming later this year)
There’s one more sibling who should get a book, but it might be coming in Eason’s next series. I haven’t heard anything definite from the author yet, but the grapevine is saying it’s not going to be in the Blue Justice series.
Oh, thanks! It’s good to have a list of what order they go it because I’d rather read them in order. π
On Tuesday, January 1, I began + finished βThe Adventures of Chatterer the Red Squirrelβ by Thornton W. Burgess.
On Friday, January 4, I finished βThe Backwards of Canadaβ by Catharine Parr Traill and βThe Dutch Twinsβ by Lucy Fitch Perkins.
On Saturday, January 5, I finished βThe Country Diary of an Edwardian Ladyβ by Edith Holden.
On Sunday, January 6, I finished βEvangeline: A Tale of Acadie,β by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, βFive Little Peppers & How They Grew,β by Margaret Sidney, and βA Hive of Busy Bees,β by Effie Mae Hency Williams.
I write reviews for all these books but since I have nowhere to post them, Iβm not going to. π
Wow! You were certainly busy! You have A-H with only G missing. Nice job!
Yeah, since you’re not on Goodreads, the only place would be to post them on Amazon. If you ever get them up there, let me know.
Yes, exactly. I hope to have Goodreads soon… Do you mean that if I get reviews up at any time between now and June youβll count it? Or just that if I get them up you want to read them?
And Iβm working on G! π
If you get them up anytime between now and the end of the reading challenge I’ll count them. π
Oh my! Thank you! π
Some people read a lot of books and then get the reviews up later. As long as the reviews go up during the challenge, I don’t care when it is. π
Oh, I see!
Where do we enter the giveaway?
I haven’t gotten it up yet. π
I just wrote it on my list of things to do tomorrow. Thanks for the reminder. I’m also getting things ready to update my “bookshelf” and some other things on my website, so I kind of forgot about that. π
Just finished Finding Change by Sarah Maxwell and Dawn of Liberty by Amber Schamel. Both are 5 star books!
“Finding Change” was really good. I want the next one now. π I don’t think I’ve heard of the other book. Maybe I’ll recognize the cover.
Keep up the good reading! π
I read ‘The Princess of the Chalet School’ by Elinor M. Brent-Dyer for ‘P’, ‘In Grandma’s Attic’ by Arleta Richardson for ‘I’, ‘Unbroken’ by Rebekah Morris for ‘U’, and Treasures from Grandma’s Attic’ by Arleta Richardson for ‘T’, and βDear Professor Einsteinβ edited by Alice Calaprice for βDβ
Great job! You’ve been busy! I’ll get those added as soon as I can. π
On Monday, January 7th, I read βJackβs Insects,β by Edmund Selous.
On Tuesday, January 8th, I read βPollyanna Grows Up,β by Eleanor H. Porter.
On Wednesday, January 9th, I finished βThe Golden Goblet,β by Eloise Jarvis McGraw.
I have reviews for all of them (except G, which I havenβt written yet) and Iβll be putting them up on Amazon at some point. Iβll send you the links when I do. π
You might be the first one to finish this challenge at the rate you’re going. π I’ll get these added.
And yes, let me know when your reviews are up.
I read and did a little review on Yes, You Can by Isabella D. Morganthal: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2666907815?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1
Okay. π
I needed some help in writing as you see…
π Don’t we all. Feel free to ask me questions if you want. (And by the way, the book now has a cover on Goodreads. π No, I didn’t add it, but I found the cover image and know someone who can add them.)
Yes, we do. Thank you! (Okay, thanks! :D)
Here are the links to the reviews Iβve put up; and here are the books Iβve read up to now.
On Wednesday, January 9, I finished βThe Incredible Journey,β by Sheila Burnford.
On Thursday, January 10th, I finished βThe Killer Bear,β by Paul Hutchens.
On Friday, January 11th, I finished βLittle House in the Big Woods,β by Laura Ingalls Wilder and βMr. Pipes & the British Hymn Makers,β by Douglas Bond.

Thank you! π
Finished Timeless Treasures by Cara Putman. 2 stars sadly. I will be starting Enemy Lines by C. Alexander London today.
Sad when a book isn’t very good. I’ve only read one book by Cara Putman.
Hi Rebekah!
For βFβ I read βFrom the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweilerβ and hereβs my review! https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2670552957
Great job, Rebekah! I’ll get it added! I grew up with my mom reading this book aloud to my siblings and me. π
I got two more books done for the challenge.
“W” Where the Trail Ends by Melanie Dobson and here’s my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2208501459?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1
“A” Andi Far From Home by Susan K. Marlow and my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2325151953?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1
Great! I’ll get them added. π
I read “The Tinderbox” by Beverly Lewis for “T”! I reviewed it too. π https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2414843455
Great! I’ll get it added. π
I got another book to add! For “B” I read “Becoming Us” by Robin Jones Gunn and here’s my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2580754166?book_show_action=false
Great! I’ll get it added.
Yay! So excited for the challenge. π
C – Christmas at Carnton by Tamera Alexander
I or O- The “I Love Lucy” Scrapbook (The cover says “The Official I Love Lucy Scrapbook”, but Goodreads leaves out ‘official’. Listing it either way is fine with me. π )
M – Made for the Journey by Elisabeth Elliot (review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2593603463?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1)
Nice start! I’ll do “O” since your cover says it starts with O. π
A – Anastasia: The Last Grand Duchess by Carolyn Meyer π
Another “A”. All right, I’ll get it added. π
Got a few more! π
I βΒ Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O’Dell
X β The Mailbox by Audrey Shafer
Y βΒ Your Heart’s Desire by Melody Carlson
Nicely done! I’ll get them added.
W β Wild Cat by Dandi Daley Mackall
D β Dark Horse by Dandi Daley Mackall
B βΒ Bound by Victoria Lynn (Review, will go live on the 6th: https://chosenbythepotter.blogspot.com/2019/02/bound-by-victoria-lynn-book-review.html)
Nicely done. π I’ll get them added.
T – The Thorn by Beverly Lewis
Should have a few more by the end of the week! π
Sounds good! π
J – Just Sayin’ by Dandi Daley Mackall π
Good job. I’ll add it. π
Hey! I read βGeorge Muellerβ by Faith Coxe Bailey for G, βKilmeny of the orchardβ By L. M. Montgomery for K, βReddy Foxβ by Thornton Burgess for βYβ, βFive go Adventuring Againβ by Enid Blyton for F, Hans Brinker; or, the Silver Skates by Mary Mapes Dodge for H, and lastly βJoβs Boysβ by Louisa May Alcott for J. I was wondering, for the letter ‘V’, the book title has to start with ‘V’ or can it just have a ‘V’ in it? I’m going to look again, but I think we only have one book whose title starts with ‘V’ and my sister is doing that so I donβt want to.
Wow! Great job!
As for “V” I have it as starting at the beginning, but if you really can’t find any, I’ll let it be somewhere in the title. π
Is “Reddy Fox” for X? You said “Y” but “Y” is supposed to be at the beginning of the title. π
Yes. I wrote to quickly. π
I’ve done that before. π I’ll get it added.
Thanks! I also read ‘Little Town on the Prairie’ by Laura Ingalls Wilder for L, and ‘Story-Lives of Great Musicians for S. I forgot to put them in the other comment.
I’m impressed! You really have been reading!
βOn Saturday, January 12th, I finished βA Nest for Celeste,β by Henry Cole.
On Sunday, January 13th, I finished βOur Island Story,β by Henrietta Elizabeth Marshall and βThe Adventures of Poor Mrs. Quack,β by Thornton W. Burgess.
On Monday, January 14th, I finished βThe Railway Children,β by Edith Nesbit.
I also put up another review: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/review/1599153815/R2WB2ROUL85ZEL?ref=pf_ov_at_pdctrvw_srp
You really are moving along!
I haven’t even finished my 4th book! I need to get reading. *rushes off to read* *I’ll add your books later* π
Is the last book for “Q”?
βPoor Mrs. Quackβ is. Doesnβt it count?
Yes, I was just making sure it was a Q and not P (since I think you’d already done P. I can’t keep track right now. π )
Here are the links to more reviews Iβve put up:

On January 14th, I finished βSummer with the Moodies,β by Sarah Maxwell and βThe Thousand Dollar Fish,β by Paul Hutchens. Thatβs S and T.
On January 15th, I finished βThe Winter Rescueβ by Paul Hutchens and βLost in the Blizzardβ by Paul HutchensβW and Z.

That would be fun if I could!! XD
I’m not even going to come close! But I think Katja is going to finish. She has two books left. π
Wow!!! XD
Whoops, #3 (C) should be this one.. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2157189407?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1
Got it!
On January 18th, I finished βVicar of Wakefield,β by Oliver Goldsmith, for V.
I also put up a review: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/review/B004TREI12/R3G5YLVBENJTN4?ref=pf_ov_at_pdctrvw_srp
Great job!
And another review:
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/review/B0082XJQFW/R5BEQ1GSD3CTB?ref=pf_ov_at_pdctrvw_srp
I’ll get you marked for it. π
Finished O To Be Like Thee by Kassie Angle. 5 stars! I’ll be getting you a few reviews before the month is out. But seriously, this book was so good!
Great! It’s always nice when you find a 5 star book! I’ll look forward to your reviews.
Hey, sorry I’m late. Can I join in? π
Sure thing! There are still several months left. π
On January 19th, I finished βA Year in the Fields,β by John Burroughs for Y.
On January 20th, I finished βWhat Katy Did Next,β by Susan Coolidge for X.
And the reviews:

WOW!!! I think you just finished this reading challenge in 1 month instead of 6! Way to go, Katja! I’ll get these added. Congratulations on being the first to complete every letter of the alphabet! π
Thank you! π
Quick question: Did you actually write reviews for all the book you read? Because I have you down for only 25 reviews instead of 26. I could have easily missed one. π Just thought you would probably know. π
Yes, theyβre all up on Amazon.
Perfect! I figured I just missed one. π
Now what are you going to do? Take a break from reading, read the alphabet again, or just read anything? π
I can send you all the links for proof if you want. I checked my reviews account on Amazon and theyβre all up. Maybe I forgot to tell you about one.
For the rest of the month Iβll be focused on reading, but in February Iβll work on prepping to rewrite my NaNo novel for Camp NaNo in April. Iβll keep on with my reading plan that I had before I started your challengeβreading Z-A though my Kindle books, with the exceptions of my G.A. Henty books, which Iβm reading chronologically. Iβve been doing that for a couple years now and it always overlaps into a new year. But I also want to read the print books Iβve been neglecting, so Iβll be focusing more on those than my Kindle books. Thatβs probably more information than you wanted… sorry. Iβm so detail-orientated. π
Not too much detail! I love getting to know how other people spend their time.
Oh, are you planning on doing Camp NaNo? There might be room Next Door (our cabin’s name since we outgrew the Chatterbox) if you want to join me. I’d love to have you!
Oh, and I’m sure you sent me all the links. I’m guessing I just didn’t count right when I was getting them marked. π
All right! π
Oh, Iβd love to join your cabin! π Thank you!
Okay, I’ll let you know as soon as it’s open. (Someone else actually sets it all up, but I’ll let her know you’re planning on coming.)
Sounds great! π
Finished Before you meet Prince Charming by Sarah Mally. Five stars!!! So good!
I’ll get it added right now. π I don’t remember if I’ve actually read that or not. I know we have it, but I think I was older when it first came out and I doubt I’ve read it. Have you read her new book “Speak Truth in Your Heart”? I’ve only read 4 chapters, but they are SO good!
Ooo! No I haven’t! I’ll have to check in to that on! Their stuff is always so good!
Yes, do! My sister and I each got a copy for Christmas.
I’ve tried five times to comment on your page to say that I read and reviewed more books but my comments aren’t going through. Maybe it will now.
For W: The Warrior Maiden by Melanie Dickerson (Review to post on 2/26/19 https://kayleeskindofwrites20.wordpress.com/2019/02/26/b-r-the-warrior-maiden)

For K: Kill Shot by Susan Sleeman (Review to post on 2/5/19 https://kayleeskindofwrites20.wordpress.com/2019/02/05/b-r-kill-shot)
I have no idea why it decided to say your comments were junk, but it did. π I wasn’t sure if you repeated your books, but I approved this one. Let me know if you have more books. And I’ll get these added! Sorry about that! If you comment and I don’t reply in a day or two, send me an email.
Got another one read!!
8. (H) https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2157189418
That sounds like a good book. I may have to read it some time. π
Haha! Yes, you should… reread it at least. π
π
Hey Rebekah! Count me in. This is such a fun idea! Here are the books Iβve read so far this year:
All of Ryana Lynnβs… Coffee Shop Christmas, The Land of Cotton, Our Heritage to Save, and The Rivers of Sorrow
Counted Worthy by Leah Good…that means Iβm doubled up on C. π
Iβm working on Diet Emanβs Things We Couldnβt Say…Iβll let you know when I finish it.
Thank you! Iβm looking forward to keeping up with my reads. <3
Great! I’ll get you added and marked for these books!
Quick question…I wrote up my reading list for the challenge and managed to find something for every letter but U and V! Could I use a book with those letters in the titles if I canβt find anything else? Iβm definitely gonna keep looking, but so far Iβm coming up dry. π
You can use V in a title if you can’t find anything else. If you need a suggestion for U, you can always get my first Triple Creek Ranch book for free as a kindle book: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GW5WME4 And I think there might be another one or two read already that you can look into on the “Books Read 2019” page. Does that help?
Thank you! Iβll check it out. Currently Iβm planning to save those two letters for last to give me time to find them. π
Sounds like a good plan. π
Another one..
17. (Q) https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2685024513
Got it added!
14. (N) https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2686465556
π Happy to share a story by my favorite author with you! I’ll admit, I did think of you and wondered if you still needed an N when I posted my review. π
It was very helpful! π I was excited to see it was an N title. π
π
10. (J) https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2686502213
Finished Saving Zasha by Randi Barrow…for Z π
Great! I’ll get it added! π
26. (Z) https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2684652620
Ah, another Z book. π
6. (F) https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2687376322
You’ve been busy. π
Indeed!! π
Prison Letters by Corrie ten Boom! Iβll try to get reviews for all the ones Iβve read so far later today or tomorrow. π
Sounds good. Just send me the links when you do. π
Done! http://soldiergirlstories.com/index.php/2019/01/24/reading-challenge-part-1/
Great reviews! Thanks for sharing about the reading challenge. π
For some reason my comments aren’t going through! I wonder why!
Hmm, let me check something.
I found them! Since you repeated your comments, I just approved the latest one. π Getting those books added now.
Oh, good! I was worried it was glitching. Thanks! <3
I’m wondering if it was because your links weren’t going to a post yet. If your post isn’t live at the time, link to the GR page with your review. (Even if your review just says “RTC”. π Maybe that will work.
All right! π Thanks!
π
Things We Couldnβt Say by Diet Eman. π btw, are we entered automatically for the contest, or do we do it ourselves every six books/reviews?
You have to enter yourselves. π I don’t have time to do it. But the giveaway should be up on the this page.
Sounds good! π
Number the Stars by Lois Lowry π
Oh, I like that story. π
Here’s the review link for my first two reviews!
https://www.lifeofheritage.com/blog/book-reviews-dawn-of-liberty-and-finding-change
Great reviews, Ryana Lynn! π I’m off to add some hearts to your review line.
Hey! I was wondering how you entered the contest! Do you just post the books you’ve read? Or is it something different? Thanks so much!!!! <3
You pretty much just read books. π Once you’ve read a book or more, leave a comment with the name and author of the book(s) you have read (and links to reviews for those books if you write any). Then, once you’ve read 6 books you can enter the giveaway. Let me know if you want to join and I’ll get you added. Or if you have any other questions, I’ll try to answer them. π
The Boy Who Dared by Susan Campbell Bartoletti π’ Iβd forgotten how heart-wrenching this book is!
I don’t think I’ve ever heard of it before. *goes to look it up on Goodreads*
Indivisible by Travis Thrasher. Iβm gonna get you the review for this one on Tuesday separate from the next batch of reviews when I hit book 12…I may be partial to this one! π
Sounds good! π
Adoniram Judson by Janet and Geoff Benge. 5 stars. Now please excuse me while I go and cry, lol!
That was such a good book, wasn’t it? I love their books!
21. (U) https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2567071163
π I’ll get it added.
Godβs Smuggler by Brother Andrew. β€οΈ And hereβs the review of Indivisible: https://soldiergirlstories.com/index.php/2019/01/29/indivisible-release/
I’ll get both the new book and the review added. π
15. (O) https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2693948341
Okay. π
For C, The Clue in the Diary by Carolyn Keene, 5 stars! Probably my favorite in this series yet!
I’ve only read 1 or 2 Nancy Drew books and didn’t care for them. I might like the original ones (as apposed to the revised yellow spine editions) better.
The old ones are way better!
I know the Hardy Boys are much better in the old versions. π
Does the North Carolina Driver’s Manuel count?
Um, I guess it could if you read the entire thing this year. π
Read it this past week, finished this morning! And got my permit as a result!
And yes, it was the whole thing, lol!
It’s added! (I had to go find a picture of the cover so I could put it on.)
Way to go! π Have fun driving! π
Thank you! Also, forgot this one, The Last thing I Remember by Andrew Klavan, 3 Stars.
And I wrote reviews on most of my books here https://www.lifeofheritage.com/blog/core-tbr-story-prompts-january-wrap-up
Before You Meet Prince Charming
Timeless Treasures
The Last Thing I Remember
The Clue in the Diary (Nancy Drew #7)
North Carolina Driverβs Handbook
Great! I’ll get you marked down for that book and those reviews!
Congratulations, Ryana Lynn! <3
Aww! Thank you!
Secret Believers by Brother Andrew…book #12!! π Iβll get you the reviews to you tomorrow.
YAY!!!! You did it!!!! π And by the end of the month too. π
Yes!! Iβm hopeful to read the next 12 by my birthday in March. π
That’s a great goal! Then you’d just have 2 left to complete the challenge!
π I am so glad you mentioned that…make that 14. Whew! I nearly shorted myself out of it! And…His Mighty Acts by Rebekah Morris π
π Yeah, I have to keep reminding myself that it’s actually 26 books instead of 24. π
Here’s the next set of reviews!! https://soldiergirlstories.com/index.php/2019/02/01/reading-challenge-part-2/
Great reviews. I’ll get you marked for them.
Just wanted to double check that youβd gotten those reviews marked…I didnβt see them yet?
I thought I did . . . Guess not. You reviewed 12 books, right?
Yes maβam! π
Thanks for letting me know! I’ve got you updated now. π
All But My Life by Gerda Weissman Klein. π
I’ll get it added. π
24. (X) https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2695436130
Well, that was probably the first title I’ve seen that actually starts with an X. π
Yeah!! I didn’t find it on my own though… Hannah Gridley told me about it! π
π I might have to try it even though I already read X.
It was a great mystery! π
Good to know. π
For A: The Accedenit by A.M. Heath (Review here: https://kayleeskindofwrites20.wordpress.com/2019/02/05/blog-tour-the-accident-by-a-m-heath/)
For C: Christmas by the Sea by Beth Wiseman (Review here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2674446461)
For F: Finding Mia by by Dianne J. Wilson (Review here: https://kayleeskindofwrites20.wordpress.com/2019/01/10/review-request-finding-mia/)
For N: The Noble Servent by Melanie Dickerson (Review here: https://kayleeskindofwrites20.wordpress.com/2019/03/19/book-review-the-noble-servant)
And I changed the review date for Kill Shot for K, but I posted part of my review on Goodreads. (Here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2683694988)
Good job! I’ll get these added. π
Thanks! How are you doing?
If you are asking about my reading, I just finished my 12th book. π If you are asking about me, I’m tired. π It’s been a good but busy day.
That’s great! π I was asking about reading . . . Aw, I hope you can get some rest!
I’m planning on a good night sleep. π
Finished Homespun Holiday by Kelly Ann Reilly. I’d give it a 4.5. Much better than the last one in this series, lol!
Good job. I’ll get it added. π That’s always nice when the story is better than the last one. π
Pieces of the Past by Susan Paige Davis 3 1/2 stars!
I’ll add it. π
Just finished a book in the I Survived Series. It’s called The Joplin Tornado, 2011. 5 stars! Every book in the series begins with I survived, but inside, it lists the books by the following title. So, I guess this counts for J.
Also curious, this took place in your state. Do you remember this storm? It was May 22nd, 2011.
I’ve wondered how that books was. And yes, I most certainly do remember that storm as I live in Joplin! π We were on the north of the storm so only got wind and such. But we knew people in the storm area. I’d like to read that book and see how it compares with all the real life stories I’ve heard. π
WHAT?!? Oh, wow! I’m so glad y’all were safe! Oh, how scarry! We were in Hurricane Irene, Florence and Michael, but praise God, we made it through safely as well! Never been through a tornado!
The devastation was incredible. The swath of it was unreal, and the stories amazing. There is still a section of town that has hardly any tall trees, and there are entire plots where it’s just empty fields because no one has rebuilt. I’ll never forget the sobering experience of driving through the tornado area for the first time only a day or so after it happened.
I’m not sure I’d like a hurricane. I’d have too much time to wonder and worry about what’s going to happen. A tornado appears, sweeps through, and is gone. Or something like that. π
Hurricanes are nerve wracking. Especially when you have friends in the danger zone. Our Pastor (in his 80s) was trapped in his RV during Florry (our nickname for Florence) There are still places that are rebuilding, including our Church property. Thank God, everyone was safe from our church. Still a lot of displaced folks in NC.
Thankful to hear everyone was safe.
Hey! Here are the rest of the books:
Jan. 15th I finished The Adventures of Geraldine Woolkins by Karen Kaufman for A.
Jan. 16th I finished Eight Cousins by Louisa May Alcott for E.
Jan. 17th I finished Five Little Peppers Midway by Margaret Sidney for V.
Jan. 17th I finished Yankee Girl at Fort Sumter by Alice Curtis Turner for Y.
Jan. 26th I finished The Wide, Wide, World by Susan Warner for W.
Jan. 27th I finished Clover by Susan Coolidge for C.
Jan. 28th I finished An Old-Fashioned Girl for O.
Feb. 1st I finished Rose in Bloom by Louisa May Alcott for R. ( I tried so hard to finish this before Februaryπ’)
Feb. 8th I finished Waltz into the Waves by Sarah Holman for Z.
P.S. Yes, I did read books in between the last two. They just didnβt count for the challenge. Iβm actually reading 1 book for everyday of the month this year. Or trying to. So far, so good! π
Also, I donβt see Betsy Ross by Peter and Connie Roop, which I read for B, up on the list.
Wow! That’s quite a list!
Oh, glad you mentioned that last one. I must have missed it, but I’ll get it added when I add all these. π I’m impressed by all these books. And some I know aren’t really short. π Great job!
The Swamp Fox of the Revolution by Stewart H. Holbrook. 4 stars!
Oh, I like that book. Is that for X?
Yes! And from the I Survived Series, The Sinking of the Titanic for S by Lauren Tarshis.
Got it! I’ll get them added as soon as I can. π
22. (V) https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2721405873

Great job! I’ll get you marked for them. π
And…Jesse by Jesse Owens. Iβm on a bit of a roll today, π
π Keep it up! π
23. (W) https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2619663763
I’ll get you marked for it. π
Medals Flags and Memories by John and Stacey Holley. π Weβll blame it all on Daylight Savings Time…a book alone couldnβt keep me reading this late, right?
Well . . . I’ve heard stories of late night readers. π
I’ve only just seen this, is it too late for me to join in? I’ve already read a bunch of books this year that would fit some of the alphabet letters, so I wouldn’t have to start from scratch with only three months left, if those books would count?
As long as the books were read this year, you are more than welcome to join! Just send me a list of what you’ve read and links to any reviews you’ve written, and I’ll get them added. π Glad to have you join us!
Thank you very much! I can’t believe I missed this up till now! Ok, so here are the books I’ve read so far:
A~ https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2649481358
B~ https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2696906312?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1
C~ https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1248351042?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1
D~ https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2697052796
G~ https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2696919708?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1
H~ https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2715258592
J~ https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2691541484?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1
P~ https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1395733807?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1 (although as you’ll probably see I started reading this last year, I left it for several months and so ended up reading the majority of it only this year π )
W~ https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2613124175
π
That’s quite a few! I’ll get them added today. π
War in the Wasteland by Douglas Bond…if I had to pick one favorite book ever, this is definitely it.
Wow, it must have been good. π I’ll get it added.
F~ https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2518350334
That dog on the cover is soooooo cuuuttteee, btw! <3 <3 π
Isn’t he? Some friends of ours actually breed and sell Collie puppies, and when they sent me this picture, I knew I had to use it. π
Aw, he really is the most adorable thing! <3 π
π I agree!
Yatimah by Catherine Hapka, in the Horse Diaries series. I needed a Y, haha!
Also it doesnβt show that you marked me down for Medals, Flags & Memories π
Oh, I think I forgot that one. I’ll get it put up now.
I do too. π Well, I have a book with a Y but I haven’t read it yet. π
So if this is a problem don’t worry about it, I can just read another book that fits, but I was wondering if it’s possible to change my B book to my Z one instead; The Bronze Hand, and have https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2686334308 as B instead? I’m sorry for changing like this, I didn’t realize until now that the Z one could have the Z anywhere in the title, not just as a first letter of a word. But like I said if it’s too much trouble it doesn’t matter, I can find another book with Z instead!
Not a problem! I can understand the desire to change it. π I’ll get it fixed. π
Thank you! That’s great π
U and V, here we come!! π βThe Unmousing of Jeanβ by Edna Geister and A Little Maid of Virginia by Alice Turner Curtis, which is still the best I can do for V. I finally thought to look through short story collections and found my U, though!
Only two to go!! I unwittingly saved my longest two for last, but that actually worked!
Nicely done. Yes, V seems harder than I thought, so I’ve been letting it be anywhere in the title. π
End of the Spear by Steve Saint. Talk about a book you canβt put down π³
I’m sure! That story is a page turner no matter who writes it.
Book #26!! In the Land of Blue Burqas by Kate McCord for Q. Iβll get you that last set of reviews tomorrow π
Great job! You’ll finish this challenge before I will!
https://soldiergirlstories.com/index.php/2019/03/28/reading-challenge-part-4/
And…thatβs that! π Any chance of another challenge in the second half of the year??
Way to go! I don’t usually do another challenge for the rest of the year, but . . . you can join in the writing challenge I’m doing over at https://writingtoinspire.blogspot.com/ She does a new theme each month and you can read as many or as few books as you want. π I’ve been having fun with it.
Yay! Thanks π
π
For N: Natal and the Zulu Country by T.V. Bulpin: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2659324192
π
Great! I’ll get that added soon.
Oh, and for R: Red Rover Red Rover by Perry Elisabeth Kirkpatrick, and my review for that is here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2711211415 π
Exactly what I read for R. π
Haha, what a coincidence! ;P
π Now I just wish she’d get the rest of the books out. π
Oh, meeee toooooo!!! π Though tbh I actually preferred the Kitten files, I wish there were tonnes more of those! π
I liked them both and enjoyed the differences in them. π
For M: The Market Basing Mystery by Agatha Christie, here’s my review for it: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2780271427 π
I’ll get it marked. π
And The Least of These by Kate Willis for L: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2626009654
π
π And this one.
Thank you! And now for T: Turning Point by Marion Kummerow; my review and unfortunately one start rating is here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2781628006
π
*star
That’s no fun when you have to give a 1 star rating.
No π Especially when it looked so promising.
I’ve been busy and haven’t gotten around to commenting but I’ve read and reviewed:

Wow! Great job! I’ll get these added! π
Thanks!
I got these up, but noticed you never added your review for “Regal Hearts” to GR. I linked to you “review” that said “Coming tomorrow” so many you could just copy and paste it on there. π Thanks! You are almost done!
Oh, all right!
Thanks. π
And for Q: I read A Question of Loyalty by Jesseca Wheaton which I am reviewing this month!!!!!!!! (Here’s the link to my GR post, https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2784192114) Now onto X!
I’ll add it as soon as I can! Great job!
Awesome, thanks! How are you doing with the challenge?
I have one book left and I’m hoping/planning to read it on Sunday. My nieces and nephews will be home and I should have a quiet afternoon to read my “K” book. π I have been surprised by how many books start with the same letters!
I hope you can finish soon! Yeah, I was going through all of the books I’ve read and I think that I’ve read like 5 books this year that start with any letter other then X, Y, Z. Do you know if you’ll do the challenge again next year?
I won’t do the same challenge, but I am planning on doing another reading challenge. π
Cool! This one and the one before have been a lot of fun!
Good! Glad to know you’ve enjoyed them. I have a different idea for next year! π
Hey Rebekah, even if I didn’t officially sign up, can I still do the challenge using books I’ve already read this year?
Sure. π Just let me know what you’ve read (links are the easiest for me) and if you’ve left any reviews, be sure you post links for them.
I apologize, I completely missed the part where you said to comment with the titles I’ve read. ;P So as well as putting them in the giveaway box, I’ll put them here as well.

π
For E, The Emotion Thesaurus by Angela Ackerman, review is here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2031164206
This book is so helpful! I love being able to flip through it and find just what I need to describe someone’s emotions.
It is! I think I actually won this in a giveaway you were either hosting or at least a part of a few years ago π I only wish it hadn’t taken me this long to read it lol!
Oh, yes! I keep it with me when I’m writing so I can flip to the emotion I am writing and get ideas.
It’s taken me a while to get the last few, but here they are! According to my records, these should finish the challenge for me, but let me know if you’re missing anything else. π This has been a lot of fun!

Just realized I forgot to specify–Hazel Cunningham’s Denial is meant to count for Z. π
I thought it might have been so that’s where I put it. π And you finished! π Yay! Thank you for being a part of this reading challenge!
A Question of Loyalty by Jesseca Wheaton for Q. I honestly have no idea what letters I have left, lol!
π I know how that goes. You can check the “Reading Companions” page which is a pop-down under this page, to see what letters you’ve read.
Thanks!
No problem! π

Almost done with I! K will be started tomorrow!
Yay!!!! You can do it!!!! π
Iron Scouts of the Confederacy by Lee McGiffin for I
I’m happy to add this one. And what are you reading for K?
Kate’s Innocence!
Oh, I like that one too. π
Kate’s Innocence by Sarah Holman! I’m done!!!!
Hooray! You Did It!!!!! π
Okay, I know I’ve already read W, but I reviewed a different W book: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2792845757?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1
Again, I’ve already read H, but another review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2825538665
J – The Justice Riders by Chuck Norris: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2813781883?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1
I’ve read more, but it seems like I have a thing for reading books with letters that I’ve already read…XD (also I’m not sure if the reviews of previously-read letters counts, buuuuut thought it was worth a try ;))
If you want to change them out, I can do that. Just tell me which ones you read before because I can’t remember. π
Wonder by R.J. Palacio, and Hidden Angel by Jeff Strueker
Ahhh sorry, I mixed up the H with another book I read. ;P I MEAN, Hide and Seek by Jeff Strueker.
Okay. I’ll get them changed. π
Done! You are now updated. π
I read and reviewed Z-ed by Jackie Zack! https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2842446480
Great! I’ll get it added soon. π
I already have you marked down as having read a “Z” book. I’m not sure which one it was, but it’s marked under your name. Did you want to switch it with this one? If so, let me know what the other one was so I can change it. π
Oops, yes! Could you switch them? Thanks! Just X now . . . Hmm, I’ll have to find a book!
I’ll switch them when I know what book the first “Z” was. If you let me know, I’ll change them.
Um, the other was Zephaniah or Zechariah, I’m not sure which I read. . . I think it was Zechariah. Sorry, and thanks again!
Okay. π
Wait a second. This book is an “X” not a “Z” So I don’t need to switch out any and you don’t need to read an “X”.
I only have four more books to read, but I’m behind on posting reviews to Goodreads because of health issues that have come up. Once I get them all done, I’ll update here. It’ll be a long list!
You’re doing great if you only have 4 more books! I’ll look forward to your LONG list. π (I actually kind of like doing them in long lists instead of just one and then another.) π
Oh good! I’ll be working on it.
A – Angels in the ER by Robert Lesslie: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2916635-angels-in-the-er
O – Oath of Honor by Lynette Eason: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2733243118?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1
S – Storm Rising by Ronie Kendig: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2623380844?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1
I’d wait and give you a larger list later on, but I’m afraid that with the deadline so close, I’d forget until it’s too late! ;P
Sounds good. I’ll get these marked soon for you. π
