Here we are in February. And I thought it was time for a writing update.
WIP:
I’m currently working on Lawrence & Lenexa.
It’s actually coming along really well which has been fun. This poor story has been in the works since summer of 2019, but it looks like it might actually see publication this year! Yay!
Right now I have no idea when it will be published, but perhaps by summer. We’ll see.
I’m loving writing about these characters again and seeing the struggles and problems and laughter and everything else. I don’t like Mrs. Hamstead or ββ ββ, but Mrs. Johnson is growing on me. No idea what I’ll do for the cover. That will probably be my hardest thing since I can get Angie to write my synopsis when I’m ready.
Secret Project:
My secret project is written. Am I going to tell you all about it now? Nope. But I will give you a hint. (And make sure you are subscribed to my newsletter because I just might drop more hints in there.)
Okay, first hint: This story is almost 20k words.
What to Write Next:
After I finish Lawrence & Lenexa, I am not sure what I will work on. I have so many started projects and ideas for stories that are not started, that I’m not sure what to do next. Perhaps making a list will help.
- Thanksgiving story (novella – I think)
- Raindrop World (pocket book length)
- Detour Christmas (Christmas Collection)
- Rhode Island Story (unknown length at this time)
- Kelsey (Novel)
- When Darkness Deepens (only a title so far)
- Her Name was Holly (Christmas story – needs ending)
- Don Wood (novella – no idea at present)
- Graham Quartet (sort of idea but not started)
- Kate & Kylie (unknown length)
- 4th of July (short story – I think)
- Modern Mystery (unknown length – just started)
- Western Mystery (novella – I’m guessing)
- State Park Mystery (short story – I’m guessing)
- Valentine Story (idea only right now)
- The Christmas Key (Christmas Collection)
- A Different Christmas (Christmas Collection – maybe)
- An Easter Story (novella – not started)
Yikes! That’s 18 stories! Help! Too many ideas. Not enough time to write them. What’s a writer to do? Probably just start a new story that’s not on the list. Or worse, a new series. No. I can’t. I MUST finish some things on this list first. But which one? Let me know in a comment below which story (or stories) you think I should work on next.
Upcoming Writing Events
The King’s Daughters’ Writing Camp will begin registration for the next camp on February 18th. The camp gates open on the 25th, and Camp starts on March 1st. Come and join the fun and challenge of a month of focused writing. I’m hoping I can get a lot of writing in during camp this time. Will you join us? (Link to register on Friday is at the bottom of the Welcome Center page.)
Which of my writing projects are you looking forward to the most? If you are a writer, what are you working on? Do you plan to join KDWC this time? Which story should I work on next?
Sarah says
I vote the Easter story! There’s not enough Easter stories out there! And Don Wood!
readanotherpage says
π There really aren’t enough Easter stories. And of course Don Wood gets picked. π
Lydia Coral W says
You know which one I’m going to vote forπππ€£ But I am excited about Lawrence & Lenexa! And the Mystery ones look interesting… and I’m very curious about your secret project… and I don’t see how knowing the length is going to helpππ… and you’ve left out Through an Author’s Eyesπ…Oh and I can’t wait for camp!!!!!! I’m looking forward to being in Tentalizing Tales again <3
And I also love that pictureπ
readanotherpage says
Wow, Lydia! That is one excited comment. π Thanks for your specific vote. π
Yes, I knew which one you’d vote for. I need an idea for it though.
The length was more to help me than to help you decide. π
Camp will be here before we know it! Yay! I’ll see you in Tentalizing Tales. π
Lilly says
I can’t wait for your stories to come out! And yay for KDWC starting soon!
readanotherpage says
π I guess I need to get some finished so I can get them out. π
Yes, KDWC will be here soon!

π You aren’t the only one who would be thrilled for more Graham Quartet books. π
Thanks for voting. π
Dorcas Joy says
I’m really excited about your stories! I’m with Lydia Coral W on Through An Author’s Eyes. π I vote for Kelsey, Graham, and/or Western!
I’d like to do a KDWC sometime! Is it done through messaging or do you virtually see each other like Zoom, etc.?
I’m working on a lot of writings! Right now I’m editing a book called Richly Blessed, and I just started writing a book called The Story of Ginger Alden.

I forgot Through an Author’s Eyes. π My mom will be glad to know there’s a vote for Kelsey as she wants that one done too.
KDWC is done through messaging on Slack. Some girls have pictures of themselves for their profile picture, others don’t. I hope you can join us this camp or another one. You can edit or write during camp. Or both. π
Sounds like you are busy in the writing area too. Thanks for sharing. Both projects sound interesting.
Julia Hope says
I’m glad to hear that Lawerence and Lenexa is coming along! I hope you get to publish it this year. Oh my, that certainly is a long list! I can’t decide either… Haha. Kate and Kylie sound interesting, and so does The Christmas Key. I hope you find inspiration!
I also just want to say that I really like your photo; those shoes are adorable!
readanotherpage says
I hope I can too. π
Oh, a vote for Kate & Kylie and The Christmas Key. π Both started stories that I’ve enjoyed so far.
Aw, thanks. It was a fun photo shoot.
Amy says
Betcha know which one I’m anxious for!π
And definitely looking forward to camp. Yayπ
readanotherpage says
Hmm, let me think . . . π Yep, I don’t have to wonder which one you want.
Sophia Davis says
I don’t know a whole lot about many of these, but you know which one I vote for! I want to know what branch her husband is in, lol; I don’t even know if that ever comes up, I’m just hoping it does! But an Easter story does sound neat, and me and my sister were speculating about what Raindrop World could be about; that’s a fun title.
I do plan on coming to camp! I have a new idea I’m mulling over that I’d like to work on during it!
readanotherpage says
Well, you’re not alone. Most of my readers probably don’t have any idea about most of those titles. π
Oh, yes, I know your pick. *lowers voice to whisper* L&L were having problems so I’m actually writing a little on your choice. π
Ah, yes. Raindrop World. π
Yay for coming to camp and for new ideas! As long as the ideas are for you and not me, I’ll be happy. π
Natalie Claire says
Oh, I love the name Raindrop World! That’s so pretty! π When Darkness Deepens is such a good title too.
readanotherpage says
Maybe someday you’ll get to read those stories. π
Natalie Claire says
It’s been a while since I’ve listed all of my story ideas, but I would guess I have about 20 give or take some. And that is counting my each of my series ideas as one idea. If I broke each of the series up into individual books, it would probably be closer to 40 book ideas that I have. (Wow! Now that I think of it, that’s a lot of book ideas. π )

That is a lot of book ideas!
