Writing Update

May 15, 2018 by readanotherpage 4 Comments

It has come to my attention that I am seriously lacking in keeping you updated on what I’m writing.

Yeah, now and then I’ll mention things. But really, do you now what projects are in the works? I’ve been so focused on just one or two writing projects that I’ve sort of forgotten the others until I started thinking. (It can be very dangerous for a person like me to think!) So, here is my update.

Novels:

  • Hymns in the Hills – This story has gotten a lot of progress this year and I have 11 chapters written  and edited (around 44k words). It’s been set aside since March though as I was working on my Camp NaNo project and then short stories. But I hope to pick it back up soon. (My editor does too!)
  • Untitled Horse Ranch Story – This is my Camp NaNo project. I just started this random story in March, and fell in love with the characters. The only trouble was, I really didn’t have any ideas for it. After working as an election judge, however, I got a flood of ideas from my fellow judges and my editor thinks this is her favorite story of all of mine so far. I have 28k words written.
  • Kelsey’s Stories – I have written several stories about Kelsey and her sisters, and Zoe and her brother. I’m hoping to add more to them and turn them into a novel. Not sure on my current word count.

Short stories:

  • Monthly Stories – I decided I wanted to publish a short e-book each month this year. So far I’ve had some lovely reviews and readers eager for the next month’s story. They are all stand alone, so if you missed a month, it won’t matter. I’ll check mark the ones that have been written. I’ve only published up through this month.
    • January – Winter is Past √
    • February – Forget Not √
    • March – Winter is Past √
    • April – Happy Day √
    • May – Even the Beasts √
    • June – Untitled (I have a couple ideas I’m still thinking about.) √
    • July – Untitled but it has been started
    • August – The Way to Go √ (Title may change)
    • September –
    • October –
    • November –
    • December –
  • Untitled – This story is off to a good start, but I haven’t had a chance to get back to it. It might just end up being posted on my Friday blog.
  • An Author’s Perspective (Title subject to change) – I really need to do some serious editing for this story and get it back on track. It’ll be a longer short story, but not a novel. I don’t even know if it’ll be interesting. But it is kind of fun to write.
  • Joint Story – This story has no title yet, but last year the lovely Kate agreed to write a short story with me. We take turns writing about 500 words or so. We haven’t worked on it for months, so I think it’s about time we got back to it. 🙂

Christmas Stories:

  • His Law is Love – I CAN’T wait to publish this book!!!!!!! I had an incredible cover, and an amazing synopsis written, neither of which I did myself. *jumps up and down* I’m just waiting until it’s closer to Christmas! *Must I wait?*
  • Christmas Quilts – Written, but this needs some editing and adding before I can turn it into another Christmas Collection book.
  • A Police Station for Christmas – I started writing this story last December, but haven’t gotten it finished. Perhaps I can finish it this year. It might end up a short story, or it might end up as another Christmas Collection book.

Other Book Projects:

  • Athey Books – Several years ago I decided to take all my grandma’s letters which she wrote to her mom after she got married and up until her mom died, and compile them in books with photos. I got the 1950s, 60s, and 70s done before I got sidetracked with another project. So now I’m back to work on these. I would like to get these both done before Thanksgiving when the family is getting together to celebrate my grandparents’ 90th birthdays.
    • 80s book – Working on editing photos to add. Then I need to add the photos, and get a proof copy.
    • 40’s book – The letters between my grandparents before they were married are typed, but I still have to compile them, add pictures, and format.

There you have it. A quick look at all my writing projects. I hope I didn’t miss any. What are you most eager to see me finish? What are you working on? I’d love to know!

Wow! You are busy! I like all these, but I’m really liking the one that you’ve been putting in the email. I look forward to reading more of your writings:) I haven’t touched my story since Camp but I’m hoping to either work on it this summer or put it on the back burner and start a new one. I think I do better when I have a couple things at once and not just one story to get stuck on. Also, I think I’m over-outling (if that’s even a thing). I should just write the story and not outline HA.

Yes, I think there really is such a thing as “over-outlining”. 😉 I don’t outline.
Glad you are enjoying my Camp story. It seems to be one that many people like.

Yeah, it is kind of a lot. 😛 At times it’s a bit bewildering when I don’t know what to work on.
Yes, the letters are a lot of fun. I’ve been adding pictures to the 1980s. I just got the year my older sister was born done.
