I thought it was time I gave you a writing update.
Perhaps you have been keeping track of the progress bars on the home page. If so, you may be wondering if I’m even writing. Well, I am. I just haven’t had time or remembered to go update those. Sorry! But I just did, so you can check them out before you leave.
This has actually be a rather strange year as far as writing goes. Usually I have a book published around April or May if not sooner. But this year nothing has been published yet. (Except a short kindle story.)
But I have been writing.
In April I joined Camp NaNoWriMo for the first time and wrote 35k words! That’s a record for me! This month I’m doing Camp again, but it’s very slow in the writing department.
Dylan’s Story is written. I have my proof copy and it’s waiting for my editor to read it. Hopefully I’ll be able to announce its publication soon. Stay tuned for it. Oh, and I’ll be needing some reviewers . . .
Finding Joy has been written. It is still in the editing stage, but I have a mock cover for it. (This cover is subject to change, so don’t get too excited.) The story is long. It’s 98k words! And if I have to add anything during the editing, it might creep closer to the 100k mark.
Hymns in the Hills is still being worked on. That was my project for this month, but I think my brain is a little tired after jumping from Finding Joy to Dylan’s Story, and then back to Finding Joy. Not to mention the other writing projects. I haven’t worked on it yet.
Another project which I’ve been working on for over 2 years is “The Bike Trip book.” Some of you might have heard me mention it before. It was my Grandpa and uncles’ idea. They wanted a book with all their bicycle trips in it. So I got to work collecting all the diaries, photos, maps and so on. I can’t wait to see it in print! It was a large project and took a lot of work, but the proof copy has been ordered now.
And if that weren’t enough to keep me busy, I started a new project. Yes, it involves writing, and stories, and publishing books. I love Christmas. And I love Christmas stories. Every year I write at least two Christmas stories. But I wanted to publish them. My first thought was a collection of them in a regular size book. And then I saw pictures and heard about the adorable book Kate made. My mind immediately started planning a collection of small Christmas books. Victoria Lynn and I are working on covers, I’ve got the layouts started and the stories are being edited. I can’t wait to get the proof copies in my hands! These small books will be perfect for stockings, back pockets, purses, anywhere because they are going to be . . . 4 x 5.5. I have a feeling they’re going to be a really cute collection. And this way, I can publish a new Christmas story each year if I want. 🙂
And that, my dear readers, is an update. Are you worn out yet? Think I should start any other projects right now? No, wait! I didn’t mean to ask that question! What writing projects are you working on?
