Welcome back to the final day of the party! The days have gone by so quickly, but I’m sure you have stacks of books to read now. Will they last you all autumn? Perhaps you should curl up on one of the benches today with some friends and blankets and peruse the new lists. Or you could sit by the bonfires, or in the orchard by our bushels of apples. Yes, we still have bushels of them even after all the help we’ve had in the kitchen. We might have to sell some.
But let’s get back to our books, shall we?
Today is the final day to enter the Grand Prize giveaway so don’t forget! And, since we’ve reached our second goal of getting 75 people entered for the Grand Prize, we get to give away two prized!!! Will we reach the final goal of 100 people entered so we can give away a 3rd prize? Today’s the last day to try!
And there is one more Door Prize to be won today on one of the Party Rooms. Where the Book Room is today, is anyone’s guess.
Oh, and before you leave today, please take a few minutes to complete a survey for us. We will even give you a free short story if you do! π (You’ll find it at the bottom of this post on this blog, and on other blogs.)
And don’t forget to come back tomorrow to find out the winners and . . . read our Top 5 books for two extra genres!
But, let’s get started, shall we? Today’s genre’s are so much fun. And so hard!
Middle Grade
- Baby Island (I just love this book. Yes, it is a little far fetched, but it’s still so much fun! I mean, wouldn’t you want to be in charge of four babies? I read this aloud with my niece when she was about seven, and she really enjoyed it.)
- Understood Betsy (Oh, Betsy, I could feel what she was feeling being a city girl myself. But it’s so sweet, and fun. I wanted to go live there and experience what she got to experience. Elizabeth turned from the thin, timid city child into such a fun-loving, child able to think for herself andΒ . . . well, you’ll just have to read the book.)
- Ginnie and the Babysitting Business (Ginnie started a business. A babysitting business because she loves children. But it might be harder than she thought when her friend and fellow helper doesn’t do as well with children as Ginnie. I always wanted to go play with Ginnie’s children, and lend a hand.)
- Grandma’s Attic (Do you really need to be told anything about the Grandma’s Attic series? My niece absolutely loves them! So do I. Mable and Sarah Jane are always good for a few laughs even after they have grown up.)
- Sensible Kate (Yes, Kate, this book was just for you. π I do so like Sensible Kate. She is just that, sensible. She’s not pretty or anything like that. And when people need a sensible person around, Kate is right there. And when she must be “un-sensible” it’s quite delightful. π )
Children/Picture
- We Help Daddy (Every child should have a chance to hear this book and look at the adorable pictures painted by Eloise Wilkin. The story is so sweet and simple, yet so well done. If you haven’t read it, go find it and get it. Especially if you know of any little ones.)
- Little Black a Pony (This was one of my favorite stories when I was little. I loved Little Black! But at the end I also felt sorry for Big Red. No one told me he could be ridden by the other riders.)
- Baby Dear (Another darling story written by Esther Wilkin and illustrated by her sister Eloise. This is the story of a little girl and her baby doll that she takes care of just like Mommy takes care of her new baby. Perfect for any little girl.)
- Apple Pigs (Told in a rhyming style, this delightful book tells the story of an apple tree and a little girl. There were so many apples that the family didn’t know what to do, so they had an apple party! At the end of the book it even tells you how to make Apple Pigs. So cute!)Β
- Five O’clock Charlie (People say that Charlie is old. But he knows he’s not. Even though being able to relax in a pleasant pasture every day can be nice, Charlie misses a special treat in town at five o’clock, so he decides to do something about it.)
Here are the entries for the other Party Rooms. If you have enjoyed their posts, their blogs, make sure you take the time to follow them today if you haven’t already. Now go leave some comments and find that Books room!
Some of our party participants have posted their own posts with their Top 5 books in different genres. Just for the fun of it, and because we really like to share the delight of finding new books to read, we wanted to let you visit each of their sites for yourself. So take a look and see what books they like best.
Grand Prize
This giveaway is open to both US readers and International readers. The prizes will be different, however. Sorry. We just can’t afford to ship internationally.
Guess What?! We are having so much fun, and you readers are so great, that we wanted to have even more fun! If we reach 100 or more individuals, we will offer a 3rd place winner!
2nd place winner will receive: $5.00 Amazon gift card and 3 kindle books!
3rd place winner will receive: 3 kindle books!
Help us spread the word and encourage your friends and family members to join the fun so we can give away more books! π (P.S. There is a progress bar underneath the picture of the Grand Prize so you can see how we’re doing. π )
It’s your last chance! This giveaway ends tonight! Don’t forget to make sure you’ve done every single entry you can do! I’d hate for you to try to come back to finish tomorrow only to find it’s too late.
A US winner will get a “bright ideas” jar full of story prompts, plus four paperback books.
If we have an International winner instead, they will receive a $20.00 Amazon gift card and three kindle books.

I enjoyed the “Grandma’s Attic” series very much. The thing is, they’re very short books, so you can read them in one sitting! π
Thank you so much for hosting this party! I had a lot of fun and I took the survey. π

Elizabeth says

Abigail P. says
Do I have to finish the survey by tonight? And which story would you recommend? I can’t choose! π
readanotherpage says
No, the survey does not have to be done by tonight. I’m going to leave it up until after the fun on Saturday. Possibly into Sunday.
A story from which genre? Pick that and I might be able to help. π
Abigail P. says
Oh, sorry, I meant for the free prize for doing the survey. π
readanotherpage says
If the survey is still up, you will still get the free prize. π
Abigail P. says
Oh, okay. Which story would you recommend of the ones we get to choose from for doing the survey? I don’t know much about them. Also I have another question. Sorry. I’m probably driving you crazy! π My mom just signed up for the grand prize, but the number of people who entered shown by the progress bar didn’t go up from 96 to 97. Do you do this manually, or does it take a little while? Thank you very much for hosting this. It has been so much fun!!
readanotherpage says
You aren’t driving me crazy at all. I love getting comments and answering questions. π
The progress bar goes up manually, and since they will only update the entries every 3 hours, it will be another 1 1/4 hours before I can check it again and update it. I know, it’s driving me a bit crazy having to wait, too. π But it is rather fun to watch the numbers suddenly get boosted.
Oh, as for the books. The first two are written by me. You can read the synopsis for the Christmas one by going here https://readanotherpage.comshort-stories I thought I had the second one up there, but I guess I don’t. It just came out last week. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/31548160-fitting-in Here’s the link for “Fitting In.” “The Treasure Hunt” description can be found here https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22392625-the-treasure-hunt?ac=1&from_search=true
“Waltz into the Waves” is a retelling of Cinderella by Sarah Holman.
The rest of the stories are by Amanda Tero and you can find them all here https://www.goodreads.com/search?q=amanda+tero
As for picking which story . . . That depends on what you like to read. π Most of Amanda’s stories, though really good, are also very short. Kate’s is geared more for younger children though I still enjoyed it. I have one Christmas story and one not Christmas. π If it were me, I’d probably pick “At the Christmas Lodge” because I happen to love Christmas stories. π
Does that help at all? Let me know if you have more questions.

There are a lot of “Elsie Dinsmore” books. I know. I’ve read them all. π
Marilyn says
I started reading the “Elsie Dinsmore” books. I find them quite entertaining. Elsie’s life starts out very sad. Later when her father learns to love Elsie things get a little better. Elsie’s step-grandmother treats her badly. The one aunt is nice to Elsie, but the others are not. Later Elsie’s father buys a house and they move away from the other members of the family Elsie and her father have a happy life together. Later when Elsie finds true love she marries and has 8 children. Her life is struck with tragedy when her little girl,Lilly dies and a few years later her husband,Mr.Travilla passes away. Elsie has many grandchildren later in her life.

Triple Creek Ranch – Together (#6) is hopefully going to be published by Christmas. I have a Christmas Novelette that should be out by December if not before, but it’s not a novel. I don’t know when I’ll have any others out.
Abigail P. says

Abigail P. says
Oh, I forgot to tell you my favorites in these genres! π Have you ever read If You Give a Mouse A Cookie? It’s so cute! I love the Grandma’s Attic series, and I believe I have seen and/or read We Help Daddy. Is Understood Betsy the one where she has to go to the one room schoolhouse, but she struggles with some subjects and has to be put in a bunch of different grade levels for different subjects? I’m not really sure if it’s the same story I have read because if it is, I didn’t read the entire book, just an excerpt. π
readanotherpage says
Yes, that’s the same book. π Poor, Betsy, she’s so confused. π
Oh, yes, “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.” π Such fun to read!
Abigail P. says
Also I was wondering… π What ebook do we get for subscribing?
readanotherpage says
You get a collection of some of my short stories that aren’t published anywhere else. π
