It’s our final full day here at the Literary Lodge. Most of us will be back tomorrow, but not everyone can make it. So be sure you stop by every blog and tell them what you’ve enjoyed!
Burrr! You’ll probably be glad for some blankets today if you aren’t going to be sitting by the bonfire. But perhaps if you load up the basket of one of the bikes, and ride out to the orchard or the barn, you’ll warm up. Or if you’d rather, grab a backpack and fill it with your favorite books from today’s picks and take a hike. There are benches along the trails if you want to stop and do a little reading along the way. After the storm yesterday, many folks came and helped gather apples and now there are bushels waiting in the kitchen to be emptied. Feel free to take some along on your excursions. Oh, be careful if you go down to the boats! The water is rather rough today.
I can’t believe that tomorrow we’ll have to put everything away and pack up. It seems like we just got here. But let’s not talk about that now. Let’s just enjoy today, shall we?
I doubt there will be many new faces this late, but there might be, and if you are one of them, let me give you a quick tour. Each of the participating blogs/party rooms, have their own Top 5 books to share. The buttons to read these rooms are down below. But one of them is going to give a FREE short story to anyone who wants it! It’s the Books room, and somewhere on their post they’ll share the link to it.
But don’t forget to visit all the other rooms and comment, follow, sign up, etc. because that’s going to earn you more entries into the amazing giveaway we are offering! It’s so good that we all wish we could enter it ourselves.
And now, with no more chatter, I’ll share my Top 5 books in today’s genre. If you wish to add a book to your TBR (To Be Read) list on Goodreads, or just read more about the book, find the link on Amazon, or whatever, click on the book image.
This was a very hard genre to choose! I’ve started reading quite a lot of indie published books in the last few years, and picking just 5 is . . . Well, let’s just say I feel bad because I can’t include everyone like Kate Willis, Jesseca Wheaton, and others. I just kind of had to pick. And they are not in any order of most favorite first. They’re just there. Enjoy!
Indie Published
Left to Die by Ivy Rose
I knew this was a shorter story, so wasn’t expecting it to take me very long to read. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it was longer than I had thoght. I was pulled into the story right away, and my heart cried over Jia, but especially over the other children in the orphanage Lindy visited. There’s a bit of sweet guy/girl interest, but that’s not the focus of the story and it was all done tastefully. One thing I appreciated about this book was the talk about God’s ways and how we so often think we know His will, and when things change, we can’t figure out why. It’s not that God has changed His mind, but it’s because we didn’t understand in the first place.
Sufficient Grace by Jessica Greyson
I started reading this book with a bit of hesitancy. After all, I had never read this author before, and I wasn’t sure what to expect. I found myself drawn into the story so much so, that when I put it down to do other things, I found my mind replaying scenes, wondering what was going to happen next, and wishing I could go back and read some more. I don’t remember every wishing I could re-write any scenes or change something. The story was full of heartache, compassion, danger, and learning to trust.
The Case of the Missing Hero by Perry Kirkpatrick
I’m not a cat person. I don’t care for them, and never have. But this book . . . It’s the second in the series, but I enjoyed it more than the first one, so I decided to share it. I cracked up reading it! That doesn’t happen very often. I knew exactly what expressions were on the cat’s face when it was saying things, uh, I mean writing things. Yes, it writes. Actually, Mia tells the story. I need to go read it again.
Kate’s Innocence by Sarah Holman
Since I also love “Sue Thomas F.B.Eye,” this was a delightful book to read. Even if I did have the right suspect picked from the beginning, all the twists and turns kept me reading until the very end. I enjoyed the second book in the series, and I’m very much looking forward to reading the 3rd book, as soon as it comes out.
Journey to Love by Amanda Tero
This was a wonderful story. Well told, yet not complex. It made me want to go visit the town and meet the characters in person. Amanda did a good job of explaining and dealing with some hard issues, but she did it with grace and without “preaching” to the readers.
I also love the fact that, at the end of the book, she tells you what was real and what had been changed to make the story.
And now, here are the doors to take you to the party rooms! Have fun and don’t for get to leave comments, add books to your TBR list and enter the giveaway! Oh, and these will open in a new tab, so don’t worry, you won’t get lost in the achers of land around the Literary Lodge.

I knew that I would know all of these books. π Actually, I wasn’t sure I knew of Jessica Greyson, but I already have her book marked to-read, so I must have found her somewhere. π So, yes, I have all five of yours on my TBR list.
CutePolarBear
P.S. I can’t believe this is the last day!
readanotherpage says
Finally a list you don’t have to add anything from! π But don’t go away, tomorrow we’ve got one more bonus genre! π
CutePolarBear says
Yes, that was my unstated goal for Five Fall Favorites. π
Oh, okay! I’m excited now.

Sarah Holman says
I’ve read all but all but the first book. I am very touched that you picked mine. Thank you.
readanotherpage says
You’re welcome. I really enjoy the Kate stories. π And you should read “Left to Die” sometime. It’s only been mentioned on this party, what? 4 or 5 times. π
Faith Potts says
“Left to Die” and “Journey to Love” we’re both good! π “Sufficent Grace” and “Kate’s Innocence” are on my TBR. π
This party has been so much fun!! Thanks for hosting, Rebekah! π
readanotherpage says
It was my pleasure, Faith! Thanks so much for joining in the fun and sharing your books too!
And you should make sure you stop by tomorrow if you want to read “Kate’s Innocence.” That’s all I’m going to say right now . . . π
Katja L. says
I love Amanda Tero’s books. I have βJourney to Loveβ, βLetter of Loveβ, βDebt of Mercyβ, βBefriending the Beastβ, and βPeace, be Stillβ, and I’m going to get more!!
readanotherpage says
Yes, her books are really good. I’ve enjoyed them all.
Katja L. says
Here’s my review of Peace, Be Still by Amanda Tero:
A good reminder of letting the peace of Christ fill our hearts. Very sweetβI loved Kylie and Eric, and their relation with Keith and Daddy was so cute. I found the setting a bit confusing, thoughβit sounded 1800s, but the dialogue sounded modern. I found no typos (Amanda is awesome in that respect as well!) π 5 stars.
Favroite quote:
βThough the storm outside had not ceased, the turmoil in his heart calmed in quiet assurance. As long as his focus was on the storm, he would have no peace, yet he knew he faced the choice each moment to turn his thoughts to God and place his trust in Him.β

Great quote! π
E.F.B. says
I’ve heard of four of these, and the first two are on my TBR. π I’ll also soon be recieving one of Jessica Greyson’s others books, which I won in a giveaway she did recently, so it’s nice to hear she writes good stories.
Oooooh, so there’s a bonus genre coming tomorrow? Looking forward to it! π
readanotherpage says
Yes! There is a bonus genre coming tomorrow!!! π
Mikaylatheordinarygirl says
These are some of the best!! Though I must say, Kate’s Innocence is my favorite. <3
-Mikayla-
readanotherpage says
Aren’t they? I just couldn’t decide which was my favorite so I just put them in. π
Liberty says
Wow! Kate’s Innocence looks super good! And, Sue Thomas, is good too! π
Oooh! Bonus!!!!!
readanotherpage says
Yes, you should read “Kate’s Innocence”! And I agree about Sue Thomas. π
Yes, yes! A bonus!!!!! π
RebekahAshleigh says
I havenβt read any of these books before, but they all sound good. I do want to read βSufficient Graceβ and I have the e-book of it so hopefully soon! π
readanotherpage says
Isn’t it fun when you discover you have an ebook for one you want to read? Hopefully you can read it soon. π
Kate Willis says
Look, there’s Left to Die again! I think it’s probably the most mentioned book of this party. π Hooray for so many great indie books!
readanotherpage says
Yes! I thought that if we have an award for the most mentioned book, it would be “Left to Die” and if we have an award for the most mentioned author, I think it would be Amanda Tero, but I’d have to check my list.
Kate Willis says
That’s awesome! Between Holly and I, you’ve been mentioned a lot too. π
readanotherpage says
Yeah, I just tallied up the names. And if I didn’t forget any books, Ivy Rose wins hands down for being mentioned 8 times! Sarah Sundin came in 2nd with 7 mentions, and then I came in 3rd with 5. Amanda Tero, Sarah Holman, and Jesseca Wheaton each were mentioned 4 times, and all the other authors who are participating were mentioned at least once. π But I was counting quickly and could have easily missed some mention.
Kate Willis says
Wow, those are some fun stats. π
readanotherpage says
Yep. π They might not be quite accurate, but it was the best I could do right then.
Bethany R. says
“Left to Die” is such a fantastic story! I really want to read “Journey to Love” and “Kate’s Innocence.” π
readanotherpage says
Those are both such good stories. Come back tomorrow . . . π You won’t want to miss it . . .
Kellyn Roth says
Ooh, I loved Left to Die and Journey to Love! They both were super inspiring. π
readanotherpage says
Yes, they were. π
Olivia Bell (aka Livy) says
Yay, I’m back in the Literary Lodge, I just love it here! =) This morning I was like, let me just finish school, I want to go to the Literary Lodge, haha! I want to read Journey to Love, it sounds interesting! My top favorite indie-published books are: “Worth It All” by Isabella Morganthal (review on that later) and “Not Abandoned” by MacKenzie Morganthal (they are sisters, in case you were curious, hehe!). They are such great books, a definite must read! π
readanotherpage says
Yay, you’re back! We’re so glad you returned to the Literary Lodge and that you love it as much as we do. π
I haven’t heard of either of those books. At least I don’t think I have. π I’ll have to look into them. Thanks for sharing them.
Olivia Bell (aka Livy) says
Here is my review of “Worth it All: Running the Race of a Lifetime” by Isabella Morganthal. π
“Worth it All is a life changing book about running the personal race of learning to know Jesus more through author Isabella’s personal experience as a Bible Bee contestant for 5 years. Full of tips on how to strengthen your relationship with Jesus from Bible memorization tips, prayer tips, to how it can be hard to trust God in difficult situations, this book will leave your faith in Jesus changed – for the better! Isabella has a unique way of writing that is as if she were speaking right to you, something I really appreciate! This book also includes 4 interviews with Alumni Bible Bee contestants that are also interesting to read and see how God has been working in their lives! Please visit: Isabellamorganthal.weebly.com to check out this amazing book along with Isabella’s other wonderful books!”
I hope you enjoyed it! Thank you so much for hosting this amazing party and I look forward to coming back tomorrow for the surprise genre and the giveaway winners! π
Olivia Bell (aka Livy) says
The counter says 101 participants!!! Is that correct??? How exciting!!! I invited 6 people over 3 days, so I hope they’re participating, one said she did! π
readanotherpage says
Yes! We are at 101!!!!! π Great job of inviting! Yes, one has been over. π I can’t wait to find out the winners too!
Olivia Bell (aka Livy) says
Oh, okay! Well, maybe you could get it (you’d really love the book) and read it and then you could decide for yourself, and maybe she’d be 12 by then! That could be a good idea! π
Also, I was wondering, where do they watch the Bible Bee? I was curious, that would be fun to watch! π
readanotherpage says
They watch it online somewhere, but I’m not sure where.
readanotherpage says
Thanks, Olivia! That does sound good. My nieces and nephews have been watching the Bible Bee and loving it! My oldest niece also loves to read. What age would you say this book was for?
Olivia Bell (aka Livy) says
I don’t think there is anything bad in it at all, I never noticed anything, but she is an advocate against human trafficking but she doensn’t go into detail when she mentions it, and I’m not sure she even mentions it in that book. I would say 12 years and up would be good! How old is your niece? I think this book would be great for her is she’s over 12! π
readanotherpage says
She just turned 11. Thanks.
Victoria says
I had every one of these on my list except The Case of the Missing Hero and Sufficient Grace!
readanotherpage says
Then you only need to add 2 from this list. Maybe they won’t topple your TBR list. π
But come back tomorrow as we have a bonus genre!
Faith Potts says
Woohoo, we hit 100!! π
readanotherpage says
Well, there was a slight mix-up, so we might not be quite there, but we’ll see. I should know in about an hour. π
Erika says
I’ve read most of these! I hope to read Left to Die soon… and I read the first cat book instead of this one…but I enjoyed them all!
readanotherpage says
Hi Erika!
Indie Published books are so much fun! And so hard to choose only 5 from! I hope you get to read “Left to Die” soon. It’s good. And I liked both Kitten Files. I just laughed more at the 2nd one. π
Angela R. Watts says
Oh gosh, Journey to Love was nice. π
readanotherpage says
Wasn’t it a good read? π
Liberty Bluebelle says
We must read in similar circles–I’ve read all but the cat book (and I’ve seen that one around and started wondering about that one too). π Of those listed, I think Sufficient Grace was my favorite. I’m sure I’m forgetting and Indie Book or two, but one of my recent favorites was “With Blossoms Gold” by Hayden Wand. It is a non-magical, Christian “retelling” of the Rapunzel story with a fun twist. Very good characters, minimal violence, and good warm personalities. =)
Thank you for hosting the party, and I’ll try to come back tomorrow for the bonus genre!
Blessings,
Liberty Bluebelle
“For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty;
only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh,
but by love serve one another.”
~Galatians 5:13
readanotherpage says
We probably do read in the same or similar circles. π The author of the cat book is Kate’s sister, so that’s rather fun. π
I don’t think I’ve heard of that book before. I’ve never been much for the fairy tales or the retellings because of the magic in them, but I did like Amanda Tero’s retellings.
It was my pleasure to host this party again! I’m glad you came, and you won’t want to miss being here tomorrow!!! *whispers something about book sales*
Maddy says
I absolutely loved βLeft you Dieβ I havenβt read any of the others that you mentioned, but theyβre on my TBR.
Thanks so much for hosting this blog party! I loved getting daily book posts. π
readanotherpage says
It was my pleasure! Thank you for coming and sharing the fun with us! π
Crystal says
The only one I’ve read is “Left to Die”, but I’ve heard of most of those titles. Thanks much for hosting the blog party! I have plenty of things to read now…. π

My review for Elsie’s Endless Wait:
I have to admit this book was a bit disappointing. Although I appreciated how Elsie was trying to the right thing, she just seemed too perfect. I found myself annoyed at times with this. I mean, she freaked out over stupid things for no reason. Again, I do respect her need to do the right thing… but seriously? But I have to admit, it was encouraging to see how strong her faith is in the Lord. I feel like the author could’ve done a better job regarding the subject of the Bible. I think she could’ve read it deeply, making sure she had her facts straight. ‘Cause seriously, no child should just accept the horrible treatment Elsie received.
What I did like is that I connected with Elsie on a deeper level. I really felt for her. I know what it feels like to want approval and for my father to be proud of me.
I can’t think of anything wrong with the book content-wise, but I could be wrong.
Three stars is what this book deserves after thinking deeply about it, even though I originally rated it four.
I hope to find the original books in the future and see if they’re a bit different from these updated ones.
readanotherpage says
Good review. I’ve never read the updated versions, only the originals. And I will admit that the first two were not my favorite. I did like some after that though.
readanotherpage says
It was my pleasure! Thank you for coming! And have fun with all these new books to read! π
Amanda Tero says
*sigh* I just feel like I’m in great company here with a whole list of authors I know and love. π (even if I’ve not read all of these books). Honored to be on your list, Rebekah!

Glad to add you. π Thanks for writing such a lovely story!
