Welcome to the Literary Lodge! And to our Five Fall Favorites party! Come on in and let’s get started, shall we?
This is the Literary Lodge as I have mentioned. It’s a wonderful place to spend a week, and we’re so glad you came to spend it with us. Grab some books, and go read on one of the benches under the trees, or fill a backpack for a hike up into the hills. If you’d prefer to stay closer to the cabin, there are some charming boats you can sit in to read if you’d like, or take them out on the water. It’s a calm day, and the sun looks like it’s going to penetrate the fog any minute now. But if it doesn’t get warm enough for you, there is a stack of blankets right over there; feel free to help yourself. Oh, and we have a bonfire going if you’d like to sit around the fire and talk books. If you’d like to take a bike ride, out to the barn to read, each one has a basket for your books. And while you’re out that way, stop by the orchard and fill a bushel or two of apples. This year has been great for the apples, and I don’t know if we can get them all picked before winter hits.
Now, before you run off to some party room, let me give you a quick tour. Each of the participating blogs/party rooms, have their own Top 5 books to share. The buttons to read these rooms are down below. But one of them is going to give a FREE short story to anyone who wants it! It’s the Books room, and somewhere on their post they’ll share the link to it. (Remember, the rooms change every day.)
But don’t forget to visit all the other rooms and comment, follow, sign up, etc. because that’s going to earn you more entries into the amazing giveaway we are offering! It’s so good that we all wish we could enter it ourselves.
And now, with no more chatter, I’ll share my Top 5 books in today’s genre. If you wish to add a book to your TBR (To Be Read) list on Goodreads, or just read more about the book, find the link for Amazon, or whatever, click on the book image.
Historical Fiction/Bible Times
Adam and His Kin by Ruth Beechick
It’s been a long time since I’ve read this book, but I still remember how interested I was in it. Even though many things were imagined, the author brought the story to life in a way that kept my attention and made Bible people come to life.
Pillar of Fire by Joseph Holt Ingraham
This was a fascinating story about Moses in Egypt, the plagues, the exodus, and what it might have been like. The story captured my attention and I thought about things I’d never thought about before.
A Cry from Egypt by Hope Auer
Taking us into Egypt with the Israelite slaves, this story was well done. The main characters were, for the most part, the slaves and their perspective on the plagues and what they thought of Moses. Having not read a lot of books set during Bible times, I wasn’t sure I would enjoy this book, but I did.
A Stand at Sinai by Hope Auer
Coming almost right after A Cry from Egypt ends, this book continues the story of the Israelites’ journey to Mt. Sinai. I enjoyed this book though there were a few times the characters seemed to act a little modern, but it wasn’t much. There is also trouble with the parents and rebellion against God. (This is, after all, what really happened in the Bible.) I am looking forward to reading the 3rd book in this series when it comes out.
The Runaway by Patricia M. St. John
This is the fictional account of the family in the Bible from Tyre. The daughter is possessed by a demon and the mother goes to Jesus asking for help. Told from the son’s perspective, this story held my attention. It may be a bit intense for younger readers if they are sensitive, but there is nothing to defile. It’s a fascinating look at what might have happened.
And now, here are the doors, I mean buttons, to take you to the party rooms! Have fun and don’t forget to leave comments, add books to your TBR list and enter the giveaway! Oh, and these will open in a new tab, so don’t worry, you won’t get lost in the acres of land around the Literary Lodge. 🙂

Just so you know, the button to “With a Joyful Noise” doesn’t work.

Yeah, I saw that, and I think her post just isn’t up. I’ve contacted her, and hopefully it’ll be up very soon. Thanks for letting me know.

Hurray for Five Fall Favourites!!! And nice books! I’ve actually only read one of them (Adam and His Kin) but the Patricia St. John one sounds really good. I’ve read some of her books before and I’ve greatly enjoyed them! Actually…all the books you listed sound awesome xD I need to read more!!!!! 😛
readanotherpage says
Hi Blessing! You made it!!!! 😀 *hugs*
Yes, you should read “The Runaway.” I think you’d enjoy it. They’re all good, of course, but start with that one. 🙂 Finding time to read can be a challenge. I usually find Sunday afternoons my best reading time.
So glad you were able to stop by! 🙂
Faith Potts says

readanotherpage says
My pleasure! Glad you could come!
RebekahAshleigh says
I commented on 5 blogs, but as I was about to type up which ones somehow I pressed submit. Would you like me to say which ones I commented on? 🙂
readanotherpage says
Yes, just leave a comment saying which blogs you commented on and that will work.
RebekahAshleigh says
Okay, I commented on:
The Destiny of One
Whimsical Writings for His Glory
Stories by Firefly
Reveries
and yours!
Sorry about the whole mishap. 😉
readanotherpage says
No problem. 🙂 Things like that happen. 🙂
Maddy says
I am so excited for this party! I look forward to everyone’s posts and thank you so much for having an amazing giveaway!

We rather liked the giveaway too. 😉

Yay, it’s begun! I’m so excited for this! 😀
readanotherpage says
Yes, it’s begun! So many books are being shared, and so many more are coming! I hope you are ready! 🙂
CutePolarBear says
This is very exciting! I am looking forward to every day of the party. 🙂 (Unfortunately, school must be a priority this week…) “The Runaway” looks the most interesting of your top 5; I’m kind of picky about Biblical fiction, but I do like reading it. 🙂

I’m pretty picky about Bible Fiction too. 🙂 Glad you could come! Yes, take care of school first, the party will still be here when you get done. Maybe it’ll help motivate you to focus and get your work done quickly. 🙂
CutePolarBear says
That kind of motivation never seems to work for me. 😉 What I have to do is glue myself on my desk chair, and not even go to my computer. When that happens, I’m done for. 😛
readanotherpage says
Well, do whatever you have to do to get your school done so you can come party! 😀
Abigail P. says
Oops, I just realized that I entered that I commented on Faith Blum’s blog, but I didn’t put the correct name of the blog. I just put “Faith Blum” as the name instead of the full name of her blog. Sorry, is that okay?
readanotherpage says
Either the name of the person, or the name of their blog will work. 🙂 I know both. 🙂
Victoria says
I’m so excited for this fall party! Thanks for hosting it!
readanotherpage says
Thank you for coming and joining in the fun! 🙂 The more people who come, the more fun it is. 🙂
Olivia Bell (aka Livy) says
What fun! I’m off to read the different posts! Do you have to put them in a comment here, or will you know when I’ve commented on there?
readanotherpage says
Enjoy your visits to the barn, boat, etc. 🙂 Leave comments on the other posts, and then when you’ve left comments on 5 blogs, you can enter that giveaway entry by listing the blogs you commented on. Have fun! And yes, this blog does count for one. 😉
Olivia Bell (aka Livy) says
Oh, I get it and rafflecopter where you enter your entries, I get that too. Mine’s set up through my mom so it’s under April or April Bell. Thanks so much!

You’re welcome!
Liberty Bluebelle says
Hi, Rebekah! Thanks for helping to host this for all of us readers! Since you liked “The Runaway” by Patricia St. John, I think you would enjoy “Twice Freed”, also by that author. It is soooo good! Right now I’m reading Patricia St. John’s autobiography–another really good book. =D
Thanks for the fun!

Hi Liberty! It’s my pleasure to host this again. 🙂
Oh, we have “Twice Freed” and I think I may have read it, but it’s been a long time ago. I should go add it to my to read list. 🙂
What’s the name of the autobiography? That sounds really good, because I’ve really enjoyed all Patricia St. John’s books that I’ve read.
Kate Willis says
Oh, I love those first two!
(And Happy Part Beginning!) 😀
readanotherpage says
You liked the beginning of my post? 🙂
Kate Willis says

I am interested in reading A Cry from Egypt by Hope Auer. I am adding it to my TBR list.
readanotherpage says
Oh, good. I wasn’t sure if I’d enjoy it, but I really did. And I heard that she’s writing a 3rd book in the series, so I’m eager to see what that one’s like.
Victoria says
I accidentally did not put what blogs I commented on. So sorry about that!
Here’s what ones I did:
The Destiny of One
