You made it back for the last day! Yes, we’re announcing prize winners today. But we still have one more genre, a bonus, so make sure you don’t forget to go check out the blogs.
Some of you might arrive here before we’ve had a chance to draw the winner, so, if you do, feel free to take a final stroll around the grounds of the Literary Lodge. It’s been so much fun having you all over! We’re rather sad that we have to pack up today. If you want to help, you can take the bikes out to the barn and check for any backpacks lying around. The benches will need carried back to the barn as well. Someone should make sure there are no books left in the boats or any blankets. With yesterday’s storm bringing this delightful crisp weather, there could easily be blankets left here and there. I think someone was reading beside the bonfire late last night. Oh, and if you were one of those who filled a bushel basket with books, make sure you empty it before you leave. I’d hate for you to go home without your new books.
Speaking of new books, We have a special treat for you while you wait for the prized to be announced. Some of us decided to share something special for the Last Day of our Five Fall Favorites with you. Below you will find a FREE section and a $.99 section. Help yourself to any of the books that catch your eye. There are plenty for everyone.
Now, before you run off to see the last party rooms, let me keep you here for just a little bit longer.
First I wanted to say a special thanks to each and every one of you who came to this party! You might not have made it every day, but we’re glad you made it at all. We hope you’ve enjoyed your stay, however long it was, at the Literary Lodge and all the party rooms.
Next I have to say Thanks to Kate. Without her brainstorming, her suggestions, and her excitement, I don’t know if this party would have happened. She was your “secret” co-hostess. π So, thank you, Kate! *loud applause here* *whistles welcomed too*
And a special thanks to Amanda Tero for our lovely blog buttons, and to Kellyn Roth for the delightful party room graphics! The party wouldn’t be the same without those important parts, girls. Thank you! *more applause*
And I have to say thank you to each and everyone of those who participated in this event. Choosing only your Top 5 books in each genre is not an easy task! If you think it is, you try it. So thank you, Sarah, Kelsey, Holly, Kate, Kellyn, Faith, Jesseca, Amanda, and Faith! I loved each and every one of your posts, and I’m afraid my To-Read list has grown. π *Loud applause again and cheers*
If you missed one of the days posts, or if you just want the full list of the books we all shared, you can download a pdf copy right here.
Our winners are getting announced at the bottom of the page where the giveaway was. See you there!
And, if you are interested in being a blog host for next year’s party, please fill out this form. Thank you.
And here’s our final genre. Enjoy!
Animal
Misty of Chincoteague by Marguerite Henry
I’ve enjoyed this story since I was little. There is just something appealing about the story of the wild ponies on Assateague Island, and Paul and Maureen. I wanted to go to a Pony Penning Day and see the horses swimming the channel. When my family took a vacation to Chincoteague, we actually got to stay in the room where this book was written. This is a story I have read many times.
Spike of Swift River by Jack O’Brien
A lumberman and his dog, treachery from an unknown person, and the loss of sight from an accident. Or was it an accident? This book will keep you turning page after page. I greatly enjoyed the action, the adventure, and the climax was just right.
Windy Foot at the County Fair by Frances Frost
Last year I shared about the Christmas story of Windy Foot. Well, this is the first book in the series about Toby and his pony. Each one is so much fun to read. You get to meet Tish for the first time, and join Toby, his family, and Windy Foot as they head to the County Fair. A delightful read!
Royal Red by Jack O’Brien
This horse belongs to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. This is a story of adventure, danger and mystery. As with all the books by Jack O’Brien, this kept me turning pages. Well written, full of characters who are alive and feel real, and a duo of dog and horse who go with the Mounty, this is sure to keep any reader enthralled.
Gray Dawn by Albert Payson Terhune
I read a lot of books by this author when I was younger, but my favorite of them all was Gray Dawn. I wanted a dog just like him. His adventures were numerous, but I liked it when he was back at Sunnybank. I need to go reread this.
With it being the final day, a few of the bloggers couldn’t make it. But here are the buttons to the other blogs, and the sections of FREE and $.99 books. I hope you’ll check out all three sections, drop by the blogs and leave each one a comment to tell how much you enjoyed their posts, and then pick up some new books to read. But don’t say goodbye unless you aren’t planning on visiting our blogs again. π

Rebekah, I can’t believe it! Even on the last day, you make my add a couple more books to my TBR. π I never heard of “Gray Dawn”, and I love all of Albert Payson Terhune’s books, so now I want to read that!
Anyway, I had a lot of fun at the Literary Lodge! Thank you so much for hosting it. <3

I didn’t even think about Misty! Oh, and I think the Black Stallion books were a bit hit with our family when I was younger. The things I remember last minute!
Those look like a good selection!

Happy reading this fall and winter!
Olivia Bell (aka Livy) says
Aww, the party’s over. π Well, I had the best time this week, I had so much fun visiting the Literary Lodge and biking down to the barn to grab blankets to stuff in my backpack to take with me and my bushel baskets on a boat ride to read. It was a bit chilly on the lake though, so resting on a bench in front of the bonfire was a welcome relief!
Thank you for hosting this amazing event, Rebekah! I know it was a lot of work and I am so glad you did it! My TBR list is very large, it did quite indeed require a small wagon (preferable pulled by a miniature brown pony, I adore those!) to tote them all home! Haha!
Cheers to the winners, I hope they enjoy their goodies! I am so looking forward to this event next year! π
readanotherpage says
Thanks, Olivia! Love the image of you walking home beside the brown pony who was pulling your load of books home. π
It was my pleasure to host it again, and I’m so glad you came in spite of the rain and coolness. π
Yes, next year should be just as much fun. Kate and I are already tossing around genre ideas. π
Faith Potts says
Thanks so much for hosting, Rebekah! π
