I’m so glad you’ve come back to the Literary Lodge! Isn’t it a beautiful day? But come on in.
This year seems to be giving us beautiful weather! The nights are chilly and perfect for gathering around the bonfires with blankets to talk about our favorite stories. During the day, however, the sun has been out and today doesnβt appear to be any different. The bikes are waiting to be taken for a spin out the dirt road or along the trials. Someone left some books on one of the benches yesterday so if that was you, please make sure you pick them up at the barn. Do you need a bushel basket yet? If you think a backpack will do, there are still a few unused ones on the porch. Help yourself. The boats are tied up just waiting for you to take them out on the lake. You should have seen the lake early this morning! It was like a mirror! But anyway, have fun and enjoy the day here at the Literary Lodge!
If you havenβt been here before, the giveaway is down below, and so are the buttons to the other party rooms. Be sure to visit them all as there are some great books being recommended, and one blog is offering a FREE kindle book!
Just a reminder, if we reach 75 people entered into the giveaway, weβll add a 2nd place winner, so be sure to invite your friends!
Medical
This genre was difficult. Not trying to find books, but deciding which ones to share. I grew up reading and loving books about doctors and nurses, so I could have given you a long list of books, but I did narrow it down to five.

An Endless Chain by Isabella Alden
Once again I get to share a book by my favorite author! This one is one of the Chautauqua series, although it is more about one of the side characters in one of the books. The Christian focus, the amazing characters, and the writing style all combine to make this a story to read and reread.
Sue Barton series by Helen Dore Boylston
I’m actually rereading this series right now. It starts out with Sue Barton beginning her nurses training and goes along through her life as the wife of a doctor. The scrapes she gets into, the interactions with people of all sorts, and the interesting bits about nursing in the 1930s make this series so much fun. There are a few minor euphemisms and a few swear words in these books that can be marked out.
Doctor Kate by Adele Comandini
I’d never heard of this doctor until I read a fiction story loosely based on her life. This is a fat book, but so interesting that I didn’t mind. It was a well written biography and if you enjoy stories of real doctors, you should try this one.
Take My Hands by Dorothy Clarke Wilson
You’ve probably never heard of Dr. Mary Verghese, have you? She was training to be a doctor in India and she became paralyzed after an accident. But she didn’t give up her dreams of helping her people. Instead, she became a surgeon.
The Doctor by Ralph Connor
I really enjoy books by Ralph Connor. They are deep, with characters that make you feel for them. This story started out a little slow but before I knew it I was hooked and when I set the book down at the end, I knew that was a good book. There was one scene that I wanted to step in and stop the characters from making a wrong choice, but it was brief, not emotionally descriptive and then it was over.
Are you ready to visit all the other Party Roomsβer, blogs? Have fun and donβt forget to leave comments, add books to your TBR list and enter the giveaway! Oh, and these will open in a new tab, so donβt worry, you wonβt get lost in the acres of land around the Literary Lodge. π
