Do come in out of the cold! That wind is downright chilly today. Feel free to grab a hot drink in the kitchen before venturing out again.
It certainly got cold! I wasnโt expecting it to get this cold so soon. But at least we have plenty of blankets if you want to venture outside to read. Iโm sure there will be plenty of people around the bonfires today and not as many out in the boats since the wind is making the lake rather rough. If youโre dressed warmly you might venture out on one of the bikes but be careful. We really donโt want any accidents this year. Hiking? Yes, that might be a bit safer with the wind, and we have a few empty backpacks. I found some more in the attic. Those benches are probably covered with leaves now as theyโve been coming down in showers this morning. If you can make it out to the barns, you will probably find it a cozy place to read though there might be a few bushels of apples sitting around that didnโt make it to the kitchen yesterday. If you empty one, or find one that is empty, feel free to claim it for your books. You look a little loaded with new reading material. And donโt forget, we still have two more days after this!
If you havenโt been here before, the giveaway is down below, and so are the buttons to the other party rooms. Be sure to visit them all as there are some great books being recommended, and one blog is offering a FREE kindle book!
Just a reminder, if we reach 75 people entered into the giveaway, weโll add a 2nd place winner, so be sure to invite your friends!
Holiday
Holidays. If you’ve read this blog for a while you know I love Christmas books. But there are other holidays besides Christmas, so we decided to share our top 5 for holidays other than Christmas. And it was harder than I thought it would be! We seriously need more stories about other holidays.

Easter Flowers by Isabella Alden
This is a short, a very short story, but it is so touching and sweet. A good reminder how much we can touch and influence the lives of others by our actions. You can read the story for free here.
If He Lives by Sarah Holman
This is a short but thought provoking story. Do we really live as though we believed Jesus Christ is alive? A group of young people are challenged with that thought and it changes them. Will it change you too?
Davie’s Witness by Isabella Alden
This is a very short story taking place mostly on the 4th of July, but Davie has a very different Independence Day than he thought he would. You can read the story for free by going here.
Nannie’s Thanksgiving by Isabella Alden
A charming short story by my favorite author. I would have loved it to be longer, but oh well. And you can get it for free by going here.
A Fine Day Tomorrow by Amanda Tero
Don’t get too confused. A Fine Day Tomorrow isn’t published quite yet. And it’s being published first in a collection of Thanksgiving stories. It’s a story that takes place during the end of WWI and the Influenza epidemic. But it also has Little Women in the story. And I can’t wait to read the rest of the stories in this collection!
Are you ready to visit all the other Party Roomsโer, blogs? Have fun and donโt forget to leave comments, add books to your TBR list and enter the giveaway! Oh, and these will open in a new tab, so donโt worry, you wonโt get lost in the acres of land around the Literary Lodge. ๐
