Welcome back to our final day at the Literary Lodge! It’s so sad to see this party coming to a close, but hopefully you’ll have a stack of books to keep you reading this winter.
I hope you have had a wonderful week exploring the acres around the Literary Lodge. The bonfires have burned late into the night, and there has been such delightful talks with old friends. But today is our last day. If you want to help clean up that would great! The boats all need checked to make sure no one left any books in them. If you find any, please bring them to the lodge and hopefully someone will claim them. The bikes and benches can be taken out to the barns for the winter. All blankets will need shaken and folded before we store them in the closet here at the lodge. Oh, and we found three bushels of books sitting in the front room. Does anyone claim them? Weβre also missing a couple backpacks. Those could be anywhere. If you happen to find an empty one in the woods or the orchard, would you please bring it to the lodge? Thanks.
And thank you all for coming! I hope you had as delightful a time as we did in hosting it! A special thanks to Sarah who co-hosted this event with me and also put together the delightful Grand Prize. *applause please* And thank you to the rest of our Five Fall Favorites team: Hannah, Erika, Kaitlyn, Leona, Abigail, Ellen, Courtenay & Chelsea, and Michaela. We couldnβt have done it without you all! And a huge thanks to you, the participants who make this party worthwhile. Your enthusiasm and excitement over this annual event is a great motivation to continue it.
If you would like to help us with one more thing, please fill out this form with suggestions for genres you’d like to see shared next year.
The winners will be announced down at the bottom of the post where the Grand Prize is listed. If the winners are not listed yet, make sure you come back. And donβt forget to check out the final posts from each of our bloggers. Be sure to leave them a comment and tell them how much you enjoyed the party. And yes, one of them is the Books room and has a free kindle book for you!
Oh, two more things. First, hereβs a pdf download of all the Top 5 books shared this year. If you are like me, you have found books you want to read, but wonβt be able to remember them all next week, nor will you have time to go back and find all these posts again next month.
The second thing is that there are some books that are $.99, or Free today. To find these books, click on the images on the right. These are all books by current participants of the Five Fall Favorites party, or former participants.
Now enjoy the rest of the day and your stay at the Literary Lodge.
Top 5 for 2020
Everyone is eager to see these books, I’m sure. Since the Top 5 books of the year can be any genre, it’s always fun to see what books have made it onto the lists!

Jessie Wells by Isabella Alden
One final book by my favorite author. I reread this book earlier this year and loved the story of Jessie Wells and her growth as a young Christian and how it influenced so many others even when she stumbled. Such an encouragement.
Jayne’s Endeavour by Lauren Compton
This delightful story takes place in Australia, the home country of the author. I’ve read so few books set in Australia that I was eager to read this when it came out. And it didn’t disappoint. It’s a great Christian story with a bit of mystery, some danger, some fun moments, and I can’t wait to read the next book.
Shaken by Kariss Lynch
This story was so much more than I expected. Yes, there is some romance, but it stayed clean with only a few kisses. But the story of the earthquake in Haiti, the aftermath and turmoil. Wow.
A Strand of Hope by Amanda Tero
I had never heard of the horseback librarians until I started hearing about this book Amanda was working on. It is a tough story as it deals with a difficult life, but there is hope.
Five Star Spy by Perry Elisabeth Kirkpatrick
With all the problems and cancelled plans, the turmoil and mess of the country during this year, I needed something light. And this fit perfectly. I laughed several times while reading and I don’t usually do that. Oh the delight of Emily posing as a snobbish socialite! This was just what I needed.
The Giant Jumperee by Julia Donaldson
I know this is #6, but I just had to share it. Consider it a bonus for your enjoyment. We haven’t had this book very long but I have already read it several times, can quote much of it, and it makes me laugh every time. And if you need some laughter, this book should help. Even if it is a children’s picture book. So enjoy!
