I’ve been tagged! This time I get to write a few very short stories for you. Ready?
Rules:
1. Thank the person who nominated you. √ Thanks, Hannah!
2. Write 5 single line stories that fall under any of these genres:
- fantasy
- romance √
- thriller
- mystery √
- western √
- contemporary √
- historical
- drama
- dystopian
- adventure √
- sci-fi
- paranormal
- young adult
3. You can choose 5 genres that’s easiest for you, or you can challenge yourself to try something new! – Got it.
4. Nominate 5 blogger/writers who you’d love to see participate and leave an open nomination for all writers! √
5. You can do this challenge more than once. – Really? I wonder if I should do it again or just do them all now?
And now let’s get on with our stories.
Romance
That kiss, a monument to seventy years of wedded love and over eighty years of trusted friendship, brought tears of happiness to many eyes.
Mystery
The lights along the tops of the tall buildings, as though all linked together and controlled by a single hand flipping a switch, blinked off, then on again, all simultaneously sending a message across the dark city skyline to someone, somewhere; all Special Agent Black had to do was discover who was sending and who was receiving–although the why of it would be nice to learn too.
Western
Evan gave a sigh as he looked down at the cowboy hat, leather pouch, and book that lay on the white comforter which covered his twisted legs and wondered if he would ever again be well enough to go back to his uncle’s ranch and see the cowboys he’d made friends with last year; even if he couldn’t ride a horse, he wanted to go.
Contemporary
Laughing and chatting, the three friends settled down at the table with dishes of ice cream, grateful to be together again after two long years of separation.
Adventure
Marsha sat in the dusk with a book, her silhouette black against the setting sun, giving the impression of being perfectly at ease, a woman on vacation, at peace with nature and her fellow creatures, yet the weight of her Sig P365 which sat concealed in its holster hidden, but easy to access, spoke otherwise as she sat silent, alert, her ears keenly focused on every sound, her whole body attune to the slightest change around her, and waited for her contact.
And now I’m supposed to nominate 5 bloggers to do this tag. Hmm, I’m going to tag, Ryana Lynn, Courtenay & Chelsea, Erika, Dorcas Joy, and Hannah. Also, if you’ve never done this tag and would like to, consider yourself tagged.
So tell me, which story was your favorite? Have you ever tried to write something in one sentence? I’m thinking these might have been more like teaser stories. What do you think?

I loved the mystery one and the adventure one…thos would both make GREAT stories!
But the romance one along with that picture was so sweet!! It makes me think of my grandparents. On the 12th of this month is their 63rd anniversary❤

😀 Glad you enjoyed them.
That’s so neat about your grandparents. My grandparents were married for 71 years.

Hi Rebekah! I love that sweet romance one. I have grandparents were were married for… I think around sixty years? (I’d have to double check with my dad to make sure.)
