She Saved My Sanity

September 24, 2019 by readanotherpage 10 Comments

Once upon a time I became an author. I wrote books.

Long novels, shorter novellas, stories, and more. I could tell my stories and write them with feeling. I learned how to format and design covers. I explored and figured out many of the things in the self-publishing world. But one thing caused trouble.

Synopsis.

Yep, those blurbs that go on the back of the story or on the sale page that is supposed to entice people to read your book. Those things were awful! I’d sit down and stare at the blank paper before me. What should I write? I’d start something only to cross it off and start over. I’d start again, then again. I’d sigh and moan. Why do books have to have these things anyway? Finally I had something written. I’d take it to my editor who would moan and sigh, scratch out words, sometimes whole sentences, rewrite parts, and then either tell me she didn’t know how to fix it, or hand me a paper with a shake of her head. It would have to do.

Enter Angie Thompson.

Last year during Camp NaNo, Angie and I were in the same cabin. Some of us were chatting once about synopsis and how hard they were to write. Angie made a comment about enjoying the challenge of writing them. I sent her a message at once. Was she interested in trying to write a synopsis for my story?

She was.

Then she wrote one for my next book.

And the next.

Short stories, longer novels, it didn’t matter. Angie could take any story I had written, read it and then send me a synopsis that made me want to read my own story. And the stress was gone! No longer did I dread getting my book ready to publish. I just send my stories to Angie.

My sanity was saved!

And now you too can get your sanity saved, your stress reduced, and a lovely synopses written by Angie because she has decided to open up her services to others. Check it out here.

Are you the kind of author like me who hates writing a synopsis? Do you wish someone else would take over that job for you? Or do you love the challenge, like Angie, of crafting a perfect synopsis?

Ah, Angie! She’s so good! I love writing synopsis, but I’m also nervous about it…I’ve written all but one of mine, lol! I just don’t want to do it wrong, but I do enjoy the challenge!

That’s great! I’ve never enjoyed it, so handing the job over to someone else makes me happy. πŸ™‚

Thanks for the shout-out, Rebekah! And anyone who benefits from my making this an official “business” can thank Rebekah, too; she’s the one who really encouraged me to go for it. πŸ™‚

Haha! You’d think after writing a whole novel a few more words couldn’t be too much drama!! But I totally feel your stress and pain! πŸ˜‰ Thanks for the heads up! πŸ˜€

I know! I still puzzle over the fact that it is so stressful to me. πŸ˜› And if you ever need a synopsis written, check with Angie. πŸ™‚
