Reading Challenge Update

February 27, 2024 by readanotherpage Leave a Comment

It’s been almost two months since the 2024 Read Another Page Reading Challenge started and I thought I’d give you an update on how I was doing.

First off, I’m not speeding though this challenge as I did one year. I’m also not crawling through it.

I had to go back and look at my list and mark down some books I had forgotten to mark down. No, you aren’t the only one who reads and reads and then suddenly remembers they should probably fill in some titles on the challenge list. And surely I’m not the only reader who thinks certain books are going to fit in certain places only to decide you can put them somewhere else and fit that other book that you read in its place.

Right now I’m over half way through the challenge.

It’s been fun to get some books read that have been waiting for me for quite a while as well as some newer books.

But I’ve also discovered that just because a book is on my TBR list it doesn’t mean it’s worth reading. I have had two books that I was planning on reading, but after skimming one and just starting another I decided they were both not worth my time. And that’s okay. There is not enough time to read all the really good books anyway, so why should I read the books I’m not going to enjoy or aren’t worth reading?

Do I have all my books picked out? Nope.
Am I reading other books besides those for the challenge? Yep.
Do I like seeing my TBR stack get smaller? Absolutely! Only it’s just the physical stack that is getting smaller. I’m afraid my kindle books are sprouting new books when I’m not looking.

Have you joined the Challenge? If so, how is it going for you? Would you consider yourself a slow, fast, or average reader? Do you finish every book you start or do you let yourself say no and quit if it’s not worth your time or you don’t like it?
