Reading. I love to read. Sometimes I read several books in a week, and other times it takes me a week to get through one book. It all depends on life and what else I have going on. And sometimes on the book(s) I’m reading.
I don’t know if you joined the Read Another Page Reading Challenge this year or not, but I thought I’d give you all an update on my reading for the year and how I’m doing on the challenge.
Some reading challenges I find that I only read books for the challenge until I’ve read them all.
Other times I’ll read mostly reading challenge books with a few others sprinkled in.
This time I’m reading whatever I want to read and am still working on the challenge.
But how do I pick my books?
Many times I see what’s on my TBR stack and try to read books from there. This year I’ve done a mixture of TBR books, rereads, and other books. And one day I was needing for pick a biography to read, and as I was dusting the bookshelves, a book tumbled off the shelf. It was a biography of Andrew Jackson. So I decided I’d read that. Hey, it just fell at my feet. I think it wanted to be read.
Right now I’m currently reading my Missionary Biography, and I still have About a Family, For the Family to read. I also have a book I keep putting off. Yeah, I know. I keep putting that one off. I know which book I will probably read for that one, but . . . since I’ve put it off for about 20 years, I figured a little longer won’t hurt. Right?
But I have read 54 books so far this year. Over a third of the way to my year’s goal.
As for the reading challenge, it’s still going on, and if you want to join (it ends the end of June), there’s still time. I’ve finally gotten the Reading Companions page updated. (Sorry, I’ve been a little busy.) And if you are a part of the reading challenge and haven’t added the books you’ve read to the google doc, please do. Others really enjoy seeing what books are being read.
Are you doing any reading challenges? What books are you reading? Have you challenged yourself to read something different? How do you pick your reading books?

I actually just finished a reading challenge last week, Crazy Reading Week (not run by the same people who run Crazy WRITING Week). I can’t remember how many pages I read, but all together we got more than 10,000 pages read.
