Have you ever wanted to design covers for others but don’t feel experienced enough? Have you ever wished you had stories to practice designing covers for? Have you ever longed for someone to give you feedback along the way and offer constructive criticism?
Starting now, you can do all those things.
How?
I write. I’ve written novels and short stories. Actually it’s more like I’ve written short stories, and novels. The other week I went through all my short stories that I had written and counted them. To my astonishment there were over 70 titles!
But what to do with them all is a good question.
Some are not worth publishing. They were written more for practicing some writing technique than for the story. Others have only been read on my Friday blog because I didn’t have the time or creative power to design covers for them. Some have been published in collections such as The Lower Lights and Pirates of Rocky Crag Bay,ย but have not been published as individual stories.
This is where you come in.
Not too long ago I offered to let my Friday blog readers try their hand at designing a cover for a story I had posted. A brother and sister jumped on the chance and soon sent me a cover. It wasn’t what I was looking for, but I gave them feedback about things, and they went back to work. After several times of going back and forth, me giving feedback and suggestions and them implementing them, they had created the perfect cover for the story.

Now it’s your turn. If you want to improve your cover design abilities, practice designing covers, or even just try to design a cover for the first time, all without writing a story, you can head over to my page of story titles and pick which one you want to try. Send me a message stating which story you want to try, and I’ll send the story your way. After you’ve created your first version, I’ll give you honest feedback about your design and how you can improve it.
We’ll keep working from there.

Haven’t forgotten about you, lol! Things are a little busy, but I’m hoping to get to the ones you sent me soon. My WIP got in the way, lol!

Not a problem! And I was going to let you know that I think one of the stories I sent you got picked up by someone else, so you might want to check the list just to be sure. ๐
And WIP are allowed to get in the way. ๐
Ryana Lynn says
Alrighty, I’ll check when I get home. In D.C. right now!

I can make a guess which one it is… ๐ Ryana Lynn, if itโs one we have we donโt mind letting you have it and picking another one. ๐ Weโre still in the brainstorming/looking for pictures stage.
