Let’s see what last year held.
Hang on to your hats as we backtrack and take a flying look at 2018!
Writing:
This was not what I had thought I was going to do this year. I was expecting more words. But, this is how it played out.
- January: 17,967
- February: 14,405
- March: 9,997
- April: 20,046
- May: 20,146
- June: 10,033
- July: 22,235
- August: 6,635
- September: 6,628
- October: 2,227
- November: 1,350
- December: 7,407
Total words written (on stories of all lengths): 139,076 (This is actually the lowest word count since before 2015. Hopefully I can change things this year!)
Reading:
My goal at the beginning of the year was 88 books. However, I did my own reading challenge, and Andrea’s reading challenge (she’s doing another one by the way and January’s challenge is TBR books!), and GoodRead’s reading challenge. So . . .
My grand total for books read in 2018 was 188! That’s only 100 more than my goal. 😛 (I’ve NEVER read that many books in one year before!
If you want to take a look at what I’ve read, just go HERE.
Blogging:
I was able to keep up with my once a week blogging schedule except during the Five Fall Favorites blog party where I posted once a week, and the month of December where I posted a review of a Christmas book every day through the 24th.
Publishing:
I plan was to finish Hymns in the Hills and get it published, but I wasn’t expecting By Paths Unknown to jump in out of nowhere and insist I write on it. So, neither of them got done. *Hopes for 2019* I also planned for and published His Law Is Love, Christmas Quilts, and a new short story every single month in 2018. (Those stories are now combined into a kindle and paperback collection titled Stories Through the Seasons.)
Life:
Yes, there is such a thing as life even for authors. Sometimes it gets in the way of writing, sometimes it provides wonderful stories. My life in 2018 was a mixture. I had two computers quit on me. One was toast and I sold it to my computer repair man for parts. The other got a new hard drive and works great now (except that I lost photoshop). I spent time babysitting my nieces and nephews, helping with my brother’s campaign, teaching writing classes, and reading–among other things.

Rebekah! That’s quite a lot accomplished:) Best of luck in all your goings on this year! I think my aspirations for 2018 were a bit far fetched, so I didn’t do nearly as much reading or writing that I had wanted to. I believe the Camp Nanos really helped me though. I wish November Nano was like Camp. I’m hoping to read 24 books this year. Sad as that number is, it’s way more than this past year! I’d love to finish the rough draft of my novel. My biggest goal is to read the entire Bible within the year. I didn’t get through all of it last year.

Thanks, Amy. I had more reading and not as much writing. 😛
I’ve never even tried November NaNo, but I’m looking forward to Camp. 🙂
24 books is a great goal! Do you want to enter my Reading Challenge and see if it helps? If you get 12 books read you get one of my short stories for free. And if you only read 6 books, you can enter the giveaway for a free novel or audio book! And these books don’t have to be a certain length. They can be short.
Reading the Bible through in a year is a great goal!
Thanks for coming by and commenting.
