Dear Readers,
I’m terribly sorry that camp is almost over and I’m just now writing to you. But let me explain why.
You see first, I got lost. Completely turned around, no clue where I was, lost. I mean camp is really big, and there are mountains and valleys, and well, I just went exploring and couldn’t find my way back again for days.
Or maybe that wasn’t what happened.
No, it was my tent. You see, my tent has some girls who are very much at home and when the pillow fight started . . . Yeah, it knocked the tent down, and three of the bunk beds broke, and it took the other campers quite some time to get us all out, and then we were really busy trying to fix our tent and . . .
That doesn’t quite sound right either.
Actually, I’ve just been busy with life.
At the beginning of the month I finished writing Don Wood and formatted it. Now I’m just waiting for my synopsis to come so I can finish the cover and order my proof copy.
I also reread and edited and fixed and, hopefully, wrote the end of Lawrence & Lenexa. It’s now with my editor to see what she thinks.
Then I was working on stuff for the reveal of the Aunties’ first ever Story Collection (last week’s post), and that took some time working on the cover and making sure we had everything together. By the way, I didn’t think of it before, but I thought I’d mention that there are no romance stories in this collection, so if you were hesitant to sign up to promote it, you can rest easy. One story has a very slight hint in the very last chapter that there might be a coming romance, but that’s it. And yes, we’re still looking for people to help promote it.
I also wrote a first draft of a Christmas story for this year’s Christmas Play at church, but it wasn’t right, so I had to brainstorm with another auntie at camp. And then I have a better idea, but it ended up with way too many characters. So . . . I’m trying a third idea that I finally got. Hopefully it will work just fine.
In between all that stuff, I’ve written some of Monday’s Mystery (no, it doesn’t take place on Monday; I just got the idea on a Monday), Kate & Kylie, and my Everything story for camp, and a little on my Western Mystery, a little on my Thanksgiving Story, and some of this year’s Christmas Collection story. Whew! Yeah, it’s been one of those this-and-that kind of months. But oh, well. I started out with a goal of 20k, but since I wasn’t doing much writing for the first half of the month, I lowered it to 15k.
To my delight, I actually did reach 15k, and I’m going to see if I can reach 20k. I may have to stop and do a lot of thinking about some of these stories, but we’ll see.
Well, I should get back to writing. You see, one of the other aunties half jokingly challenged my tent to write 50k words ABOVE our tent goal. And we, like any normal crazy group of competitive writers would do, accepted and are all busy writing. I did get to thinking though, that 50k is about the length of a full novel (depending on who you talk to)! But that’s okay. There are 6 of us working toward it right now and some others who are close to their goal who can help soon. And we have a week to do it.
Oh, I should let you know that Tentalizing Tales did reach our tent goal! Pretty exciting, right?
I should get back to work before I think of something else to say. I’ll catch you later!

Ooh, hopefully your new books will be released sometime soon! I’m sad to miss camp, but I know I don’t have enough time to write right now. Hopefully I’ll be back for the November camp!

I’m hoping they’ll come out soon too, Lilly! π
And yes, I hope you’ll be back for November. We’ve missed you.

You had me so confused for a minute π I thought I’d somehow missed the most epic TT pillow fight ever! π€£

Haha! π I wouldn’t put it passed a few certain ones to get so energetic in a pillow fight that we did end up with tent problems. π
Yes, lots of new stories. I just have to finish them. π
And yes, to TT and 50K!!
Lydia Coral W says
Hmm yes, I’ve heard those TT girls can get pretty wild ππ Not that I would know anything about that π

Oh, no nothing. Perhaps you should try TT sometime, Lydia. You might like it. But then maybe it wouldn’t be quite to your liking. π
Lydia Coral W says
Hmm, yes, probably notπ I’m not really a fan of insane writing challengesππ π

Hannah Foster says
What kind of person would challenge you to a whole 50k more words?! XX
readanotherpage says
It must have been someone who didn’t know what TT was really like. π
Hannah Foster says
I guess so! She sure did underestimate them. XD

Yeah. π But that’s okay. Some of my girls work their best under intense pressure and competition. π
Lillian-Keith says
Yay for reaching your goal, Rebekah! I hope the writing continues to go well at camp! Best Wishes π
