Letter from Camp

July 25, 2017 by readanotherpage 6 Comments

July, 2017

Dear Readers,
Here I am I Camp NaNoWriMo once again. Actually Camp is almost over. Only a week left. Sorry I didn’t write you sooner, but better late than not a all, right?

Camp didn’t start off with thousands of words flying from my fingers, though I did manage to finish writing Finding Joy in the first five days. Then it was slow going. It seemed that several others in the Cabin were struggling with their writing too. What’s with July?

I was able to join the first Cabin Sprint, but the next three I couldn’t The first two times  all six of my nieces and nephews were over and that doesn’t lend itself to writing. The fourth Cabin Sprint I wanted to join, but my sister and I were already committed to doing childcare at church for a ladies fellowship. That means there is one more Saturday Cabin Sprint left. I would like to make it, but we’ll see. . .

My plans to focus on Hymns in the Hills and get several chapters done have gone out the window and into the lake. I haven’t written one word of that story yet. But I have had a lot of encouragement from my Cabin Mates and realized that it was okay to work on something else.

I started out with the goal of writing 20k words. Part way through the month I realized that I might have set too high of a goal. So I cut it in half. Surely I could write 10k words. After my brother ended up going into the hospital with an infection in his ankle, and we had the kids for three and a half days, I wondered if I’d even make that goal. So I cut it down to 7k. That’s one thing I like about Camp. You can change your goal before the 20th if life interrupts your writing. I’ve reached that goal, but not much more that 7k. I keep hoping I’ll be able to write, but each time I’m either busy, or the words run away and hide.

Hopefully I can write at least a few more thousand words before I have to head home. 🙂 I’d really like to reach the 10k goal.

Well, I’d better go. Words are calling, or something is. I’m glad I came to Camp even if I don’t get a lot of writing done. I still have a few days left.

Wish you were here.

P.S. Have you ever been to Camp NaNo? If so, what was your experience?

My words have been slower this month, but I’m still glad I’m doing it. 😉 I have gotten at least a little something done. 😉

Yes, there have been days when I know I wouldn’t have even tried to write if I wasn’t doing Camp.

I have some catching up to do, so I’m hoping I’ll have the time today! I have a scene to add, and it’s giving me trouble. 😀

I hope that scene works for you! Tell it I said to stop being troublesome. Maybe that will help. 😉

Thank you! Ha, ha! My sister helped me brainstorm it a little, so I think it might work out! 😉

Sisters are great at helping. 🙂 My sister is often my “probability, realism consultant.” 🙂
