I wasn’t planning on writing a post like this, but after the talk and brainstorming many of us at KDWC did about blog post ideas, I thought perhaps someone might enjoy seeing how I plan my blog posts.
The first thing is to get a calendar. I like having a calendar that is in book form and is just plain paper not shiny since shiny paper doesn’t erase very well. This is my current planner.
I start off by jotting down the blog posts I know I’m doing or have already gotten done. If the post is already posted I will sometimes write it in pen, but the others are in pencil because I often find I have to change them around. 🙂
Example: I had another post scheduled for today. But I was able change the date, erase the blog name and put in a new blog post name.
One reason I like this calendar is that I can plan things far ahead. If I know something is happening (like KDWC or my 24-Books-before-Christmas), I can pencil them in. I can schedule a blog series ahead of time, or space out interviews or whatever.
Once the post is penciled in, I try to get a draft written. It might not be much at first, but I get a post name and schedule it. Then I can go back and work on the posts a little here and a little there until it is done.
When post is done, I put a check mark on the calendar where the post is scheduled. This keeps me from having to constantly check my scheduled posts to see if they are finished.
And that’s what I do. If you need a list of blog post ideas, check out the ideas we came up with at KDWC.
Do you plan your blog posts ahead of time? How many posts do you like to have ready ahead of time? How do your plan your blog posts?

Great tips, Rebekah! I’m currently using one of my bullet journal spreads to keep track of my blog posts. 🙂
