This week is Thanksgiving week here in the US. It’s a time to remember to give thanks for our blessings. And sometimes those blessings come in disguise and we don’t see them until later.
Here’s a few things I’m thankful for this year.
- My Savior Jesus Christ
- My family
- Being able to remodel our house
- Readers who understand I’ve been busy
- Music
- Changing seasons
- Getting to publish a Thanksgiving story
And I could go on, but those are just a few things. And yes, I do have a Thanksgiving story for you. I wrote it several years ago but just never got around to publishing it because I was always writing something else. This year, however, since I haven’t had much time to write the last few months, I was able to pull it out and get it published since someone had already designed a cover for me.
My Best Thanksgiving
Looking back to when he was eleven, Ray recounts his most memorable Thanksgiving.
Preparing for any trip with a family of nine isn’t always easy. Getting on the road is hard enough, but when the trip is delayed by first one thing and then another, the family starts to wonder if the trip will ever end. Will the memories Ray holds on to be good or difficult?

I hope you enjoy the story and have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Next week we’ll have our final It’s Real Life post before we start the book countdown to Christmas! (You won’t want to miss the December posts because there’s going to be some giveaways and some free stories.)

What a fun short story! I just finished reading it. 🙂 I love that you gave Ray such an awesome big family! I’m the second-oldest in my family of eleven and it’s amazing.
If this isn’t too personal a question to answer, how many siblings do you have?
I’m thankful that my family can all be together for Thanksgiving, now that my big bro is finally on break (this is his first year away at college); I’m also thankful for the gift of laughter, answered prayer, my mom, and clean Christian books (since that last seems so rare in today’s world, finding one feels similar to finding gold) 😄
Happy Thanksgiving!!
