2020
The year God already knew about.
No one really wants to look back at 2020. It was a strange, difficult, frustrating year. But even then God was at work. I found myself praying more. I had to rely fully on Him for strength when I was totally exhausted and stressed, and He gave me not just the strength, but the smiles to keep going. For that I am grateful. Sometimes we need to look beyond the clouds to see the blessings God has given us. Things like accomplishing goals, new adventures, and more.
Are you ready to take a flying trip through my year and see if I got any of my goals done?
My goals for 2020:
Finish writing Lawrence and LenexaThat didn’t happen.Finish writing Kelsey’s StoriesNope. Didn’t do that either.- Finish writing my secret project √ Yes! And not only did I finish Jim Wood, but I got 3 others done as well.
- Get TCR-5 on audio √ And TCR-6 is being recorded right now.
- Hopefully get a few other stories on audio √ I got the first 12 Christmas Collection books on audio.
Learn more about blogging, WordPress, and growing my siteYeah, well . . . Nope.Work on marketingNot really . . .- Read at least one non-fiction book a month √√ Yes! I actually was able to read 2 non-fiction books each month this year!
- Work 4 elections √√√√ Yep, I sure did.
- Host Read Another Page’s new Reading Challenge √ I did.
Do some online tutoring (for writing)Nope. That didn’t actually happen.- Write and publish one new Christmas Collection book √ Yes, Saving Miss Christmas is published.
So, out of the dozen things on my list, I managed to do 7 of them. Not bad.
But just because I wasn’t able to do some things, didn’t mean I didn’t do others.
Here’s my other things of interest:
- Helped create The King’s Daughters’ Writing Camp and hosted 2 online writing camps.
- Published 2 short Christmas stories.
- Wrote and directed this year’s Christmas play for church.
- Read more books than my goal (You can read my Year in Books here.)
- Taught one student.
- Worked in the County Clerk’s office before the last two elections.
- Continued to post every Tuesday.
- Hosted the 5th Five Fall Favorites party.
- Welcomed my new niece in March.
- Posted 24-Books-before-Christmas
And I wrote.
January: 27,449
May: 19,402
September: 4,291
February: 18,713
June: 21,692
October: 722

July: 11,219
November: 1,711
April: 32,509
August: 11,583
December: 8,893
This means I wrote 171,069 which is exactly 4k fewer than I wrote last year. How I managed to get an exact 4k is beyond me. It wasn’t planned.
Well, that’s 2020 in a nutshell.
I have some goals for 2021. Not sure how many I can accomplish, but . . .

- Read 1 non-fiction book a month
- Finish writing Lawrence & Lenexa
- Work on another Woodbreak book
- Publish a new Christmas Collection book
- Host Five Fall Favorites

Well, there’s a look at my life in 2020 and my goals, or at least some of them, for 2021. Do you have any goals set for this year? Any plans to read more or less?

I’m excited to hear about another Woodbreak book in the works! I’ve read all but Lake Wood, and I’ve really enjoyed them!

I have a sort of idea for the next Woodbreak book, but we’ll see how it goes.

There’s more to the Woodbreak series!? Fun! The reading challenge looks like fun. 🙂

Yes, Lilly, there are supposed to be a few more books in the Woodbreak series. Just pray that I can get the right ideas and can get them written. 🙂
You’re welcome to join the reading challenge if you’d like. 😀

I was looking over my 2020 goals last night and noticing how many I didn’t get done or that were completely cancelled. 1 goal that I actually exceeded was the rough draft of my first book. I exceeded the 60,000 word goal and basically finished it at about 85,000 words.
I enjoyed reading about your goals! Thank you for sharing (even the ones you didn’t get to do). 🙂

That’s great that you got more than your goal for writing! I love it when things like that happen.
Sometimes we just have to look at the goals we didn’t reach and see if it was our fault or if God just had other plans. 🙂
