Election Day!

Do you know what today is?

Yep, that’s right, it’s Election Day!

And not only is it election day, it’s the 240th anniversary year of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Think of the history of freedom this nation has faced over the years!

Let’s take a quick look at our history.

1765-1783

The Revolution which freed us from the rule of a king across the ocean. We were given the chance to create a government of the people, by the people and for the people. Our rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness were written and assured in the Constitution of the United States.

1861-1865

During the War Between the States, or the Civil War, there was wrong and right on both sides. The South was fighting for the rights given to the States, while the North was fighting for the rights of all men. It was a difficult time for our country, but we came forth united once again in a stronger bond than before.

1917-1918

The War to End All Wars. That’s what they called the First World War. It was another fight against oppression. It was a struggle to give liberty to the nations in Europe and we, the people of the United States gave much in that fight. The war ended on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.

1941-1945

Our liberty was once again threatened. On the East by a power hungry man who had a dream of ruling the world. His Nazi troops left destruction and terror in their wake. The Jews were rounded up and slaughtered. On the West, a small, but fierce, nation sent their message of war by the bombing of our Naval Base in Pearl Harbor on December 7th. It was an early Christmas message never to be forgotten.

And even now, jumping ahead in history, our liberties are still threatened, not only on foreign shores, but also here at home.

Not everyone comes home from this struggle for freedom. Many, many have given their all to ensure our liberty. And many, many more have suffered in ways you can only imagine.

What have we done?

Are we even willing to give up a few minutes of our time to go and vote?

To do our part to ensure that these children can also grow up in a Country that is FREE?

With liberty and justice for all?

If you haven’t done it yet, Go vote! And if you aren’t old enough to vote, encourage those around you who can, to go and give their voice for freedom!

It is worth every sacrifice, America!

Vote!
