Dreaded Book Fever

March 10, 2020 by readanotherpage 8 Comments

I was looking for something to post today. Some quote that would be fun. My mom has notebooks full of quotes about all sorts of things, and when we were looking, we came across this one. I just knew I had to share it.

Whole

Book

Fever

This affliction is common throughout the homeschooling community. It is contracted through frequent contact with whole books. There is no known cure. Symptoms include but are not limited to the following:

  • You lose the motor function needed to close a good book and put it down.
  • You have an irresistible desire to browse through your friends’ bookshelves.
  • You hyperventilate upon finding a complete set of Landmark books in mint condition with dust jackets at a garage sale.
  • You are physically unable to pass by a stack of old books without stopping to look at them.
  • You schedule your vacation around the annual community used book sale.
  • You begin stacking books horizontally in your bookshelves to make room for more books.
  • You hesitate telling a friend about a library sale because you both collect the same book series.
  • You buy a fourth copy of Johnny Tremain at a library sale because you forgot you had the three others.
  • You actually worry about which child will get which books from your home library when you die.
  • You start a retail book business just so you can buy more books at dealer’s cost.

So, does this sound like you? Do you have any of these symptoms? If you do, I’m afraid there’s not much I can do for you since there is no known cure. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Oh no! I have found I have a few of the symptoms, not all, but it may grow worse. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Tried to post earlier, but my phone got goofy on me…

I’ve had this for years! I don’t remember a time when I walked into a friend’s/acquaintance’s/random person’s house and didn’t immediately check out their bookshelves! ๐Ÿ˜€

Dear, dear! And there’s no known cure for it either. ๐Ÿ˜‰
