Today is the last day! I can’t believe it! Thank you all so much for letting me share about my new Christmas stories with you all! I have two more today to finish things off, and I hope you aren’t going to leave before I do. And don’t forget to visit the other blogs that so kindly joined in the tour. *offers candy canes to everyone*
About the Books
The Christmas She Wanted
Christmas had lost its charm and wonder. Mrs. Rush hated the feeling but was powerless to fix things. Traveling to visit relatives for the holidays, the Rush children pass the time with their eyes glued to the screens of their devices. That is, until the flashing lights of a State Highway Patrol car bring their trip to a sudden and unplanned-for stop.
While I wasn’t sure exactly where this story was going, I did have a purpose in writing it. I was sick and tired of families who seemed to spend more time in front of their screens than having face to face conversations. I was tired of trying to visit with cousins who kept sending texts during supper. I was frustrated with kids who think they have to be entertained all the time. And thus, the story was written. So in a sense, you could say the she is me.
She gave a sigh. “You know, I wish we could have a real Christmas for a change. ~ The Christmas She Wanted
Christmas Smiles
This was Laina’s second Christmas without her parents, who had died in an accident, and she was sure it would bring nothing but tears, because she and her aunt couldn’t seem to get along. When a frightening experience occurs, Laina, her cousin, and her aunt and uncle find unexpected cause for smiles.
When I saw a writing contest that was supposed to feature a story with tractor and snow, I jumped into writing. (No, I didn’t enter it, as the contest was for younger writers, but it was fun anyway.) This is unlike any story I’ve ever written, and I wasn’t sure how it was going to turn into a happy Christmas. But it did. And the characters have remained in my brain. Perhaps someday I’ll write more about them.
Life was certainly a mess. It wasn’t anything like she had read in storybooks. ~ Christmas Smiles
