Christmas Collection Blog Tour Day 3

November 15, 2017 by readanotherpage 2 Comments

Christmas tour

Christmas is coming! And here are two more Christmas stories. This brings us up to four! We’re half way there. Let’s celebrate with gingerbread cookies, shall we?

About the Books

Christmas Eve at the Back Door

The Great Depression is in full swing, and Mrs. Kabrick hopes to make Christmas a special time for her children even though they don’t have much. With the back door constantly opening and shutting, time flies bringing cold air, visitors, and a very special Christmas Eve.

I actually wrote this story in two Christmas seasons. I wrote the first part, about the backdoors, one Christmas time, and then set it aside until the next year. I had so much fun writing this story though! I actually had to make a list of all the minor characters because I couldn’t keep track of them. And sometimes they were only in the story once! That should tell you something.

“We may not have much,” Mrs Kabrick had often told her children, “but there are others who have even less.” ~ Christmas Eve at the Backdoor

Christmas Delays

A doctor, called up for duty in the army, spends one more Christmas with his wife in an unexpected way after God‘s Christmas delays strand them in a small house with another family.

            Peter’s Christmas

Very mild weather might not feel like Christmas, but young, orphaned Peter and his older sister find the peace and love of the season with the Hampton family in spite of the sadness of war.

            I’ll be Home for Christmas

Grandpa recounts the memories of his first Christmas away from home during WWII.

Each one of these stories was written in a different year, yet they all had something in common. They all take place during the years of the Second World War. They all deal with different issues that war brings. I still cry over one of these stories every time I try to edit it. If you want to know more about them, check a few of the interviews because I shared more then.

“You can never have too much snow for Christmas.” ~ Christmas Delays
