You can never have too many Christmas books to read. Over the years my family has collected many Christmas stories. Quite a few have been found here and there in some used bookstore, perhaps tucked away in some corner just waiting to be rediscovered, read and loved. That’s why some of these books may not be low in price, but if you keep watching, maybe you too can find a copy.

Christie’s Christmas

This story is by my favorite author. Christie is going to ride on the train for the very first time in her life on Christmas Day because, after all, it is her birthday and she was invited to spend it in the city with her uncle. The train ride wasn’t anything like Christie was expecting and when she gets home again, she has stories to tell. But the book doesn’t end there. It continues, and you discover what happened because of that Christmas Day train ride.
The Lion in the Box
by Marguerite De Angeli
Set in New York in 1901, this is a story about a family of six living in a flat at Christmas time. The father has died and the mother must work cleaning offices in the evenings. But the girls are going to have a nice Christmas anyway. After all, Mama has shown them how to make paper stars for the tree. And they can tell stories. Oh, such lovely stories. But when the box comes and the man says there is a lion inside, the tears come. I just love this story. It gives you a glimpse of a different life and yet leaves you almost wishing you could live there too.
