You’re back! Are you ready for the next couple shelves of books? Good, then let’s head back upstairs to my room.
I’m going to do the two lower shelves instead of the top and bottom like I did last time. Do you know how hard it is to take pictures of my lower bookshelves when my bed is 13 inches or so from the shelf? I had to lay on my stomach on my bed, try to get the books all in the frame, and then lower the camera and push the button hoping I would get a good shot. So please excuse the cut off books.
This first shelf is mostly the same author. Anyone want to guess who it is?
The first three books are hidden from view. (I told you it was hard taking pictures!) They are: Shadow of the Almighty, Through Gates of Splendor, and Jungle Pilot. The next ones are The Courage of Dr. Lister, Ann of Ava (both of which are quite interesting), and John Newton. I just didn’t have room on my “biography shelves” to fit these six books on.
Then we dive into one of my favorite authors. Ralph Connor. Yes, I have seventeen books by this author and none of them are short. Please be warned though, most of them have had the whiteout used on them at least a few times. Some more than others.
Then we end the shelf with Hidden Rainbow (Have I read that book? I can’t remember.) and Paula the Waldensian.
And here is our second shelf. (Please pardon the lighting.)
Starting with White Stallion of Lipizza and Five O’clock Charlie. These two books didn’t fit on the shelf with my other horse books by Marguerite Henry as they were too tall, so I put them down here.
Next we head into dog books. Do you like reading dog books? I do. Though I like mine to also have people in them. π Starting off with Bruce, Lad A Dog, and then five other books by Albert Payson Terhune, we stop at the light yellow book with a dog head on the spine. That’s Irish Red. I was looking at my bookshelf just the other week and realized that I had never read that book. So I first went and read Big Red as Irish Red is the 2nd book in the series. Okay, moving on. Spike of Swift River is quite an exciting book. The next three books are all Silver Chief books. Silver Chief Dog of the North, Silver Chief to the Rescue and The Return of Silver Chief. That red book, Royal Red, also goes along with them only it’s about Silver Chief’s son or grandson. These all take place in Canada and Silver Chief belongs to a RCMP. If you want dogs, action, excitement, and a delightful read, find one of these books.
Now we have a few smaller paperback books. Twig A Collie, Dixie a Dedicated Doberman, Scout, and Shadows (which has a lot of bright red on the spine), with Lassie Come Home to bring the dog books to an end. But hey, if you need more dog books, just ask. My mom has several shelves of books about dogs and horses. I haven’t read them all yet.
Let’s take a look now at some classics. First are The Five Little Peppers. These are such fun books even if I do feel that the author had a hard time making the children sound and act like adults as they grew up. I don’t have the full series, but my mom does, and I think between my sister and I we have almost the full series. I own 5 of them. Then we get Little Women, Little Men, Jo’s Boys, Eight Cousins, Rose in Bloom, An Old Fashioned Girl, and Jack and Jill. Such delightful, and well written books. I grew up listening to Little Men and Little Women, and I can quote sections to you if you’d like. π Okay, I won’t go there today.
There’s one final book on the shelf that you can’t see the spine of because the picture didn’t quite get it. But it is Little Lord Fauntleroy.

π It sounds like you have a lot of reading in your near future. π You can probably get “Jack & Jill” and the others for free. Have you checked Librivox.com? They might have the audios of some of these that you can listen to for free.
Glad you are still enjoying this tour. It’s a lot longer than I thought it would be. π

Yes, I know where Alcott books I mentioned are free . . . I just haven’t got them yet. π Have you ever read βRebecca of Sunnybrook Farmβ? I really want that one! And yes, I’m very familiar with Librivox. π I listen to it while doing my chores.

You’re welcome. I told my sister I needed a picture of me trying to take a picture of my shelves. π

We’ve been reading “Five Little Peppers Midway” and I see what you mean about the characters not growing up. Only Mr. King changed so far, and he’s not so funny because he’s less cross lol. Have you ever read the “What Katy Did” series by Susan Coolidge? Now she did a fine job in making the characters grow. About if not quite as good as L.M. Montgomery in the “Anne of Green Gables” series.
BTW I bought your April story and I just love the cover!!! It’s sooo beautiful!! <3 And the March story cover is so pretty too!!

While I still like the “Five Little Peppers” it is a bit strange when they don’t act grown up. “Midway” actually isn’t bad, but the later ones get worse.
I tried reading the first “What Katy Did” book and just wan’t enjoying it. I got about 50% in decided to stop. You can read my review of it here. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2318634045
Aw, thanks. Glad you enjoyed this month’s story. When my friend took the picture that’s on the cover, I just had to write a story using it. π
