Are you ready for more book shelves to look at? These shelves are probably my least interesting as far as just picking a book up to read, but I do have something fun at the end of the post, so keep reading. Or skip to the end if you must.
Here we are in the back room again where I teach writing, and where all my research books are. There are a lot of windows in this room, six to be exact. Two on the east, two on the west, and two on the south, so I don’t think we need a light on.
Starting on the left we have the book and the workbook for Understanding How Others Misunderstand You. My family got through part of it and it was really helpful at understanding why some of us clash so easily, and how we handle stress. (Just so you know, I’m the only extrovert living with introverts.) Next is Finding a Job You Can Love. This was a great book! It really helped me see that, though I hated writing in school, I’ve always loved stories. I would tell stories and act out stories since I was young. God didn’t just suddenly dump the whole author thing on me, He had prepared me for it since before I could even read well!
Do Hard Things and Start Here are both highly recommended. And so is Joyfully at Home. His Chosen Bride and Dear Princess are books from years ago, and I haven’t read them since. Hmm, I’m not sure what that brown book is beside Contending for the Faith (which is written my by Dad’s uncle in case you wanted to know). Up next are three books that are hard to really see, but they are all about music and Christians. (You can ask if you want to know titles.) Then comes The Greatest Gift. You need to read this next December if you haven’t already! Those little books you see are Little Pillows and Morning Bells by Frances Ridley Havergal. I still love these little books!
Then we have several different devotional books. My favorites would be the green one: Mountain Trailways for Youth, and the one with yellow on it: Opened Treasures. But you NEED to read the red book. I think I’ve read it three times now and each time is just as good and convicting, and encouraging as the first time. It’s called Dancing With My Father. The rest are just some odds and ends.
On the next shelf we have the rest of my research “books.” Actually that entire first section are issues of “Reminisce Magazine.” π I love reading the real stories of people who lived before I did. I also have some books about clothing, and some old republished catalogs. Oh, and there is How We Lived 1880-1940 which is really fun as it shows pictures of houses, rooms, furniture, and more.
The rest of the notebooks and things on the shelf are my music things. Yes, the red one is all Christmas music from different countries. The black book beside it is “Handel’s Messiah” which I really want to sing in again!
Now the last bit of information. Most of you have probably already heard this, but just in case I have readers who are not on my mailing list, nor follow me on Goodreads, I have a new short story out. It’s my goal to publish a new short story each month (and it will take place in that month). January’s story is called A New Life.

I have an assignment (for a course I’m taking)to read and analyze the book ‘Finding a job you can love.”. It looks pretty good!!
I’m glad I saw your positive comment on it!
And “Do hard things” and “Start here” has helped me a lot as well…actually helped take away so of the fears of starting my first book!!
God bless!

π Yes, I have some of the actual magazines. My grandma paid for a subscription one year for me. The books are just as fun. π
