I know the 4th of July was yesterday, but that’s still close enough to share an Independence Day story. It doesn’t all happen on July 4th, but it leads up to it. Click on the cover to find it on Goodreads.
Across the Land I Love by Sarah Holman
Two sisters, with a deadline, travel an incredible distance.
Lillian and Stella Clark are ready to fly home from vacation to meet their family for big fourth of July plans…or so they think. When a glitch lands them without a flight home, they embark on a road trip across the United States to try to reach their family in time to celebrate the fourth of July in Philadelphia.
As they encounter both stunning views and enormous challenges, they learn more about each other and what God might have in store for them.
A novella inspired by Around the World in 80 Days and full of fourth of July fun.
Originally part of the A Very Bookish 4th of July novella collection.
My Review:
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I so enjoyed this story. I read it last year when it was part of the A Very Bookish 4th of July collection and was happy to reread it this year. The whole idea of driving across the country because your flight got overbooked just sounded fun. Yes, Iβm a lot like Stella, only I donβt think Iβd have been able to keep from talking about my plans like she did. All the places they went just made me want to head across the land I love too. And the ending was perfect.
Have you read this story yet? Do you like road trips, and would you like to take a trip across the USA? What is a story that makes you want to travel?

I haven’t read this story yet, but I’d like to! I do like road trips and live in a family that does a lot of traveling. I’ve been all the way across the country but not in one trip. That would be a long way!!

It’s a fun story. We used to do a lot of road trips when we were young, but that was a long time ago. π

This book sounds like it would be a fun read. I haven’t read any books by Sarah Holeman, but recently I have been seeing several of her titles and I would like to read them. I do like road trips. π I would like to travel Route 66. π
Probably the Little House books make me want to travel!

I hope you can read it sometime.
And if you ever travel Route 66, you’ll go right near my house. π

Ooo, how fun! π

I’ve never even heard of this story, but it seems interesting. I do like a good road trip, and as Chloe says, I would also like to travel route 66, at least the AZ section.

It is an interesting book, and if you ever take that Route 66 trip and venture beyond AZ, you can drive right near my house. We live a block from the old Route 66. π

Oh that’s super cool!

Ooo, looks like a fun book! My family and I actually took an RV trip across the U.S a few years ago and visited some fun spots like Gettysburg. Then we met up with family on the East Coast, which was really nice. Hey, maybe we passed by your homestate!

Oh, that sounds like fun! I’ve thought it would be fun to travel across the US in an RV, but I don’t want to drive it. π

Lol, it is hard to navigate sometimes (thankfully, we left that job to our dad).
By the way, thanks so much for telling me about Jigsaw Planet. I got to turn my WIP’s cover reveal into a fun game for my readers!

π I’d happily leave driving an RV to someone else. π
You’re welcome! That sounds like fun and I’m glad you were able to create a puzzle for your readers.
