Hello. I was at a loss of what to post one time and Kassie, over at Soldier Girl Stories told me about this tag. Tags can be fun, and since this one was about books, I tucked the questions away for a rainy day. Well, maybe not literally. But here you are. Enjoy!
- How many books do you like in a series?
That depends entirely on the series. If they are short books and each one is as well written as the ones before it, then it can keep going. (I have a book series with almost 80 books on my shelf.) However, if they all start sounding the same, it’s time to stop.
- In what situation is a cliffhanger permissible at the end of a book?
Uh, never! I don’t care if the series goes on, each book needs to at least feel mostly wrapped up. If you leave me with a cliffhanger, I most likely won’t keep reading.
- What kind of cover do you prefer?
Whatever kind will hold the book together. ๐ I like paperback, hardcover, glossy and mat. I read kindle books (they don’t fall apart after being read 100+ times!), and some spiral bound.
What is your favorite book?
You did NOT ask that question! Nope.
- What is your favorite genre?
Probably historical fiction or Christian fiction. Combine them both and you may have a winner. ๐
- What is your favorite cliche?
Uh, dunno. ๐
- What is your biggest book-related pet peeve?
Unrealistic events such as characters never getting hurt no matter what, or someone moving to a new area and instantly speaking with the same accent as everyone else. Or the lack of communication! Drives me crazy when the whole problem is because they won’t talk! I mean, come on!!! *climbs down off soapbox before I go into rant*
- What is the oldest book youโve ever read, based on publication date?
Do you mean publication date for the copy of the book or the book itself? If it’s the copy of the book . . . *runs to look at books* Well, we have so many old books in our house that it’s a bit hard to find the oldest that I’ve read. It might be Links in Rebecca’s Life by Isabella Alden copyright in this publication is 1878. I haven’t checked downstairs.
- What book are you looking forward to reading?
Kate’s Christmas by Sarah Holman and the rest of the The Accidental Cases of Emily Abbott by Perry Elisabeth Kirkpatrick, just to name a few.
- What is your favorite book by your favorite author?
Almost as hard as picking a favorite book. It might be Three People by Isabella Alden or it could be The Browns at Mt. Hermon or Eighty-Seven or . . . Okay, I guess I don’t have a favorite.
- What was a series you were sad to see come to an end?
I honestly don’t know. Some series just felt right when they ended, others haven’t ended yet, or I haven’t gotten the last books. Really, I can’t think of any. I know I should be able to think of at least one series I didn’t want to end, but . . . I’m coming up blank. And yes, I did look at my bookshelves.
- What was your favorite non-fiction read?
If we are talking about books other than biographies or history type books, then I’d say Dancing with My Father by Sally Clarkson (which I’ve read twice and still love it) and Speak Truth in Your Heart by Sarah Mally (I haven’t finished it but it’s so good and there is so much to think about that you want to read it slowly.)
- Your favorite book on writing?
Don’t have one.
- Favorite book of the Bible (Old and New Testament)?
I don’t know.
- What book is taking you a long time to get through?
Speak Truth in Your Heart by Sarah Mally just because it’s filled with so much that you need time to think and digest things.

I love Three People! My favorite book is The Holy War by John Bunyan, but Isabella Alden is my favorite author. Three People is my favorite book by her! My favorite 2019 read so far is O To Be Like Thee by Kassie Angle. So good!
Great post, Rebekah!

This was fun to read! But I’m wondering…..which series has 80 books in it? Can ya share? =P

Sure! The “Danny Orlis” series is the one with so many books. ๐ And I don’t think I have quite all of them.

Yeah, it took a while to collect them all, and I still don’t have the entire collection. My niece just finished reading them, and I haven’t told her that I got another book that I was missing for Christmas. ๐ I’m just now getting it read. Then she can read it. ๐
