In memory of the United States’ entry into WWII, I’m going to share a collection of stories that take place during the 2nd World War.
Where Treetops Glisten: Three Stories of Heartwarming Courage and Christmas Romance During World War II by Tricia Goyer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I found it neat that each “story” was written by different authors. It gave an added feel of each sibling being unique and different. My favorite was the first story, but I liked the other two a whole lot too. The added touch of a short chapter at the beginning and end of the book with Grandma as the main character tied everything together in a lovely way. Even though there is a bit more “sensation” of kissing and touching than I like, it wasn’t enough to turn me off.
I know I’ll be rereading this book again next Christmas.

I just got this for my birthday and can’t wait to read it! My favorite Christmas set during WWII, that’s a hard one … And I don’t have an answer because I can’t choose!

What a delightful birthday gift!
Oh, I know, there are too many books set during WWII to choose just one. π

Yes!
I thought of like ten different ones but I couldn’t pick!

Hmm…I’ve only read WWII short stories with a Christmas setting…I really liked your Christmas Delays book (last story was my favorite! ) and Faith Potts Christmas Homecoming in her new collection. I really need more Christmas books…and more WWII books, since next to the Civil War, it’s my favorite time period.

Yes, I did like that last story in the collection too. π (Though I liked them all. Maybe I’m biased.) Come to think of it, I don’t think many of the WWII books I’ve read are Christmas, but the shorter stories are.
Ryana Lynn says
You should be biased! They are your babies, lol! They were all delightful!

*whew!* Have you heard the story behind “Peter’s Christmas”?
Ryana Lynn says
No! But I sure would like to!

I was sewing the binding on a large quilt I had just finished (it wasn’t even Thanksgiving yet), and my sister had the radio playing classical music. A song came on and after listening a moment I said, “Someone is calling Peter.”
My sister looked at me. “Huh?”
“The song. Someone is calling Peter! Who is he and why are they calling him? And who is calling him?” (My sister thought I was crazy.)
I was so intrigued by this that I started writing the story soon afterwards, and “Peter’s Christmas” came into being. Now I just wish I knew what the name of that song was. π

That is so neat! I’ve heard stuff like that in old songs too. I guess it’s because so much was played live…I’ll keep my ears peeled for Peter!

π If you ever hear it, let me know what the song is. π
