I haven’t shared many children’s picture books this year. It wasn’t my intention to skip picture stories, but I somehow did. I hope you enjoy this story.
Prairie Christmas by Elizabeth Van Steenwyk
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Such a sweet story of a Christmas in Nebraska. Told from the perspective of a girl whose mother is a doctor, the story is simple, but sweet with a good reminder that the best Christmases are when you help others. The illustrations were good, and I look forward to reading this story to nieces and nephews.
Do you have children to read picture books to at Christmas time? Did you get many stories read to you when you were young? What is one of your favorite Christmas picture books?

There was a book that I remember reading when I was pretty young, and it’s bothered me for years that I haven’t been able to find it. This is not it, but the cover reminds me of the book I read. Do you know if this author has written more books?

I did a quick search for this author and here’s a link to other books by her. https://www.goodreads.com/author/list/65918.Elizabeth_Van_Steenwyk
But perhaps you remember the artists style and the the author? Do you remember anything about the book you are looking for?

Thank you! I’ll check the list in a little bit and reply here whether I find my book or not. I don’t remember the author. Like I said, I was young, so my memory could be slightly off on this (haha) but I recall the pictures being full page and full color and the style was much like the cover of this Prairie book. In the story I read, it was about a young girl having a birthday. She had some brothers, I believe, and it was a historical book. I think they went to the creek that evening for her birthday party. That’s what I remember! 🙂

Here’s a link to information about the illustrator. Perhaps he did the illustrations for the book you are looking for.

I checked both links and I don’t think any of those books are the one I’m looking for. Thank you so much for helping, though!
