O Come All Ye Faithful: and other short stories by Faith Blum
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This is a delightful book with some touching, humorous, and sweet stories.
O Come All Ye Faithful – tells the story of the Christmas truce of 1914 during the first World War. It was well written and very clean. A touching look at a bit of history.
Peace on Earth – Oh, Emmie and Elana! I had a bit of trouble telling these two apart, but perhaps I was reading it too quickly. Or perhaps it’s because they are twins. (My best friends are twins, and I had no trouble telling them apart, but I grew up with them.) Each was different, yet in ways they were so much alike. I appreciated the fact that the clear Gospel message was presented in this story. And the snow!
Silent Night – I had to chuckle over this story. It began so startling that I had to reread the first few paragraphs just to make sure I had read it right. I had. Along with the laughter, I felt a bit of sadness over Fay and was glad Jenna was willing to help her.
The Gift Goes On – This story was sweet even though not much happened except reminiscing and opening gifts, but the message was good, and you got know the characters a little just from their conversations.
O Christmas Tree – This might have been my favorite of these stories. I just loved Gareth and his enthusiasm over getting the family Christmas tree. Nothing could dampen his spirits. I was left with a strong desire to go decorate a Christmas tree myself.
