When I think of Christmas colors I usually think of green and red, gold, silver, and white. But this book made me change my mind and add a new color.
Colors of Christmas: Two Contemporary Stories Celebrate the Hope of Christmas by Olivia Newport
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I started the first story with eager anticipation as I had heard good things about this book. And I finished the last sentences of the second story glad I had read them.
Christmas in Gold
I loved the two main characters. Each so different, yet each facing Christmas with their own struggles. There was love, there was a bit of excitement, and there was a hint of maybe a coming romance. Astrid’s memories of life in Germany during WWII were fascinating.
The two things I didn’t really care for in this story were that it felt as though the author was saying that all religions are the same, and the other was some historical things that felt very inaccurate. Other than those, I really enjoyed the story.
Christmas in Blue
The moment I started reading about Angela, I wanted to hug her and offer my help. I could see the struggle she was facing and when things started to go wrong, well, I had to keep reading as that was the only thing I could do. And Brian. He was a great kid. This story dealt with loss and sorrow, but it didn’t stay there. Hope came. And joy.
I’m sure I’ll be reading these two stories again other Christmas times.
Have you read either of these two stories? What colors do you think about when you think of Christmas?

And once again my TBR grows! I shall have to check my library. I have a feeling I’m going to be reading a lot of Christmas books in the coming months, lol!
I always think of blue and silver, because I dream of doing my future house up like a winter wonderland someday.

Yes, I know what you mean! My Christmas book stack grows each year too. 🙂 But I love it!
Oh, blue and silver would be pretty! We did blue and white with our Christmas tree one year, but my mom likes red balls, so they were included which turned the tree into red, white, and blue. 🙂 Oh, well.
