I’m sure the younger children are in need of another Christmas story, aren’t they? This one is based on a true story.
Lighthouse Christmas by Toni Buzzeo
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I love stories that are based on true events or situations in history that most people don’t know about. This story takes place on an island with a lighthouse keeper and his two children. There hasn’t been a way to get to the mainland and get things for Christmas, and a winter storm doesn’t help. But the girl is determined to make Christmas a special day anyway.
I loved the ending and reading about the real group who actually did did do those things (sorry, I don’t want to spoil the story).
The illustrations were more on the cute side, but I still liked them.
This story does have some talk about Santa and nothing about the real meaning of Christmas.
Do you like stories that are based on real, little known events? Would like to live on a small island and keep the light?
