Esther Ashton’s New Dress by Kellyn Roth
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Even though it wasn’t a favorite, it was still a sweet, short story.
I think I had a hard time connecting with the characters because it was told in first person, present tense. I’m not a big fan of that way of telling a story.
There was a bit of the WW2 feel to the story, but not as much as I would have liked. (Perhaps that’s because of how the story was told, and how short it is.)
The relationship between Esther and her sister-in-law was sweet, and I liked that.
Do you enjoy getting new clothes at Christmas time? If you got a new dress for Christmas (or new shirt if you’re a guy), what color would you want to get?
Hmm, I’d love a green dress or mahogany red color for the holidays! What color would you like, Rebekah?
Oh, those sound pretty!
I think I’d like a red dress. Not bright red, but a deep crimson red.
That sounds lovely!
