Did you ever make up stories about your animals or dolls? Perhaps you have younger siblings or nieces or nephews who do, or who want you to make up stories for them. In either case, today’s story is a perfect fit.
A Gift From The Lonely Doll by Dare Wright
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
3.5 stars
I grew up reading a few of the Lonely Doll books (we checked them out of the library) and this one is one I don’t remember ever seeing.
The story is sweet and fun. Edith works on a special gift for Mr. Bear but it doesn’t turn out how she thought it would. I love the photos and the message of giving someone you love something that took time and effort.
There is no mention of the real meaning of Christmas.
Have you read any of the Lonely Doll books? Do you have a favorite story about animals or dolls? What is a special gift that you have made for someone?

I remember this doll! We grew up with Holiday for Edith and the Bears, but I didn’t know there was a whole series about them. That is fun!

Fun! We had two or three growing up, but they’ve reprinted many more. I don’t know if they redid the whole series or not, but there are quite a few.

Lol, my sisters and I made up so many stories with our dolls. We actually only have the first book in this series; I never realized there were others! There’s something so captivating about the idea of dolls and toys ‘coming’ to life.

That’s so fun, Lil! Yes, we only had the first two, but one library we went to growing up had a few of the other books in the series so I knew there were more. I just didn’t realize how many there were.

Cool! I wonder how many there are in total *prepares to raid the GR shelves* lol.

😀 I just did a search and discovered that there are or at least were 10 books in the series.

Wow, that’s a lot! Thanks so much for letting me know 🙂
