I was trying to decide just what blog post to do next. When I did a search online for ideas of what to blog about, I saw this and couldn’t resist turning it into a post.
How am I doing?
Let’s take a look and see how well I’ve complied with this MUST do list of blog posts. Ready?
Run a contest √
Well, I’ve done giveaways, and I did do a sort of contest with the games on my 5th Tuesday posts. Do those count? I’ve also done reading contests/challenges. I think I can check this off.
Review books/products/films √
Yes, I have reviewed books and some products on here. Even some websites.
Make a comprehensive guide or tutorial √
I did that not very long ago on how to format a kindle book. I even did a step-by-step post on how to write a book review.
Three for three, it’s looking pretty good.
Interview someone √
Been there, done that. I’ve even interviewed someone and then turned the interview into a post about them without it being an interview.
Post a cool infographic
I’ll be honest here. I had to go look up what an infographic was. And no, I haven’t done a post on that. Not sure what I’d post about if I did.
Criticize a website/blog or a person √
Well, I have done a criticizing post, but it wasn’t about a specific website/blog or person. Does that count?
Make a post full of GIFs
I’m not a fan of GIFs. Never have liked them and probably never will, so why should I do a full post of them?
Create a photo post
Hmm, I haven’t done that. I’m not a photographer, but maybe I could do something. As long as I can put some words in the post too.
Tell a personal secret
Uh, why would I do that? And what kind of personal secrets? Like secrets of how I do things, or “big dark secrets of my past?” Besides, if I told, it wouldn’t be a secret any longer.
Write inspirational/motivational post with famous quotes √
I’ve written some inspirational/motivational posts though I’m not sure I’ve done any with famous quotes. Wait, I’ve quoted the Bible and what is better than the Word of God?
And there we have it. I’ll call it 6 out of 10 if I count the ones I mostly did even if they weren’t quite what the list said.
What about you? If you are a blogger, have you done all of these MUST post ideas? If not, which ones haven’t you done and why not? What is your most common post to do?

Let’s see…
I have done a giveaway.
I have reviewed books.
I did a series on how to write a book.
I almost always do Author interviews when I do a book tour.
I like infographs, but I’ve never posted one.
I have indirectly criticized an author on my blog, but I didn’t call their name. I just said “I read a post recently…” that gave very bad writing advice. I had no idea that stand would become part of my platform XD
Okay, so I love gifs, but yeah, I’m too afraid of using one from a movie that’s bad and being oblivious, so yep, not gonna go there.
I have posted blogs with a lot of pictures, but not exclusively pictures. That count?
I have never told personal secrets on my blog. That’s nobody’s business 🙂
Do devotions count as Motivational? If so, then yes, and I have quoted the Bible and famous Patriots.
So 5 for sure, maybe 7.
My most common posts are book reviews and devotions. I also do monthly writing, historical and bookish posts, but in various series/topical categories.

I joined The King’s Daughters Writing Camp. I have people interested, so is it okay if I leave the email address in the comments on my blog? (I can disguise it by using (at) (dot), etc.)

Yes, that is absolutely fine, Lilly. It would be a good idea to do the (at) (dot) etc. though. 🙂 Thanks for asking and for spreading the word.
