Autumn Tag

October 16, 2018 by readanotherpage 8 Comments

I was tagged with this back in September–since it is a September tag–but couldn’t get to it until now. I hope you enjoy it anyway!

Thank you, Lauren, for tagging me.

-Please copy the questions below, answer them, and then write out your new questions (or you can even copy these) for the people you nominate below your answered questions. √
-Please nominate at least three bloggers, but try to avoid ones that you know have already been tagged. (I’m supposed to tag them even if it’s no longer September?)
-Lastly, include these guidelines in your post, and use the tag picture! √

• What animal makes you think of fall?

Hmm, that’s a bit harder than I thought. Of course I thought of turkeys, but they are birds, not animals. I think I’ll go with squirrel. And we have plenty of them scampering across our roof, dropping pecan shells all over, and chasing each other around the trees and across the yard.

• What is your favorite fall drink? Coffee, Hot Chocolate, or Herbal Tea?

Well, I don’t like Coffee and I’m not a fan of herbal tea. I do love hot chocolate, but hot apple cider is my favorite fall drink. Or cold apple cider if I’m not too cold. 🙂

•Where is a place you would like to visit for the fall that you have never been to before?

Any of the New England states! I have been to Pennsylvania several times as that’s where my dad is from and most of his family still lives, but I’d like to go to Vermont or New Hampshire if I had to pick some new place.

• What books do you like to read during the fall?

Whatever books are next. 🙂 I don’t really read certain types of books in the fall, but if I find some that are set during autumn, then even better. Now Christmas on the other hand . . .

• What are your favorite outdoor activities?

In the fall? Walking though the woods! Or out on the prairie. Or in the country. Oh, or raking a pile of leaves so my nieces and nephews can jump off the swing into it. And having a fire outside and roasting marshmallows for s’mores with my best friend. Sorry, that was more than one favorite thing.

• What scent screams fall to you?

Pumpkin. Molasses. I know it’s  fall when my sister starts making pumpkin muffins, pumpkin scones, shoo-fly pie, and things of that sort. And apple pie. And the smell of a bonfire.

• What is a special goal you have set for yourself this fall?

To get one Christmas story published, and complete a compilation of letters my grandparents wrote to each other during their high school years in the 1940s.

• Do you find yourself wanting to write about Autumn during the season?

Yes, sometimes I do. I don’t always do it, but there is usually some longing in me to write about this glorious season when the leaves change, the winds are brisk, the air has a nip to it, geese head south, monarch butterflies fly down to Mexico, the smell of burning leaves and dead branches mingle with pumpkin pie and s’mores. Pulling on a jacket and shoving my hands into the warm pockets, I stand and look about.  . . . Sorry about that.

• Apple Pie or Pumpkin Pie?

Both. Seriously I like them both! But I’d ditch both for a slice of shoo-fly pie any day!

• Favorite Fall Memory?

When I was young, I remember always taking a walk right after we ate Thanksgiving dinner. Sometimes it was with my grandparents and family, other times my best friends’ family ate with us and we’d all head out together. We’d walk out on some train tracks that weren’t used much which took us through the woods. Coming to the creek we’d cross the trestle or scramble down the sides and walk across a log over the creek. Some years were cold and we all wore coats. Other times it was warm and we just had light jackets. But those were time I hope I’ll always remember.

• What are you most grateful for about Fall?

The changing seasons that remind me that God is always the same and that His promises will never fail no matter if it’s summer or winter, spring time or harvest.

I just love fall! It’s my favorite season. And my favorite colors are displayed everywhere! What about you? What’s your favorite season? If you want tagged with this tag, consider it done.

Absolutely, fall is my favorite season too! The cooler air, cloudier skies, the vibrant hues, the unmistakable scent outdoors that makes me breathe a little deeper. Sweet potato or pumpkin pie….. The sweet smoke swirling out of chimneys – happy times.

Thanks so much for doing the tag, Rebekah! 😀 I enjoyed reading your answers—it reminded me all over again why I love autumn so much. It would be so fun to see squirrels scampering about in the backyard! Living in Australia, I’ve never seen a squirrel in real life (but we do have kangaroos in the backyard sometimes!). But I imagine that they are fascinating to watch 🙂 And yes, the changing seasons remind me of God’s faithfulness too. Hope you are enjoying making more autumn memories!! 🙂

Thank You Rebekah for this post and your answers. I love Fall with the color of the leaves and the crunch while walking on them. The air is so clear and crisp. I love the juicy apples and pears ,not to mention the delicious red grapes. I like all the food flavored with pumpkin, too.
