Summer is almost here.
That means that school is ending, vacations are being planned and long road trips are in the making. But how do you pass the time on the road? There is only so many times you can play the Alphabet game or TwentyβQuestions before you start to go crazy.
When we used to travel on vacations we would always bring along audio books and many are the hours we drove in silence listening as stories came alive to us. Of course back then we listened to cassette tapes instead of CDs or MP3 versions. We didn’t have ways to watch DVDs in the car (and I wouldn’t want to!). Okay, I’ll stay off my soap-box about that. π
However your thoughts on keeping kids, and young people, occupied when traveling together, try an audio book. And to help you out with that, I’m going to do a giveaway of one of my new audio books, Gift from the Storm.
a Rafflecopter giveaway
If you like audio books, take a look at other books I have available.
When is your favorite time to listen to audio book? Do you listen while you work? Clean the house? Travel? I’d love to know.

We always listened to Adventures in Odysseys on our road trips. Actually I just went on a long road trip and bought a new Odyssey to listen to! =D I wish more authors did their books on audio. I’d love Radialloy by J. Grace Pennington on audio. =)

Oh yes, Adventures in Odyssey. It’s been a LONG time since I’ve listened to those. They were a lot of fun though.
And I agree. More authors should work on getting their books on audio so we can enjoy them while we do other things. π
Thanks for commenting, Mikayla!

I’ve listened to a lot of books on audio over the years … some of the Chronicles of Narnia books, a series called ‘Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle’ (or … something like that?), and then Around the World in 80 Days. And there were quite a few others. I think I’d like to listen to almost any books on audio. π

Oh I used to read the Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle books. π And we’ve enjoyed “Around the World in 80 Days” many times. Audio books are just so nice to have around to listen to over and over.
Thanks for commenting, Kellyn.

Hi Ashley! Sorry I didn’t get this up as soon as you posted it. It got stuck in my spam folder for some reason. π
Oh, we like Jonathan Park! They are fun to listen to, and perfect for trips when you need to keep the driver awake too.

Ooh, it’s hard to decide which audio book I’d want to listen to! Probably the Ilyon Chronicles by Jaye L Knight. π
readanotherpage says
I agree, Sarah Grace, it is hard to decide! There are just so many books that would be great to listen to while I did other things. Thanks for sharing. π

Having a series to listen to is great because you don’t have to stop after the first book. π Glad you came by, Pearl!

Thanks for coming by! Audio books are so much fun! I love being able to listen and do other things at the same time like wash dishes, knit, travel somewhere or relax and do something else all while enjoying a good book.

I’ve never thought of using audio books while traveling. I will now though. I love Nicholas Sparks books. Not sure if those are available on audio.

Listening while traveling is a wonderful experience! It not only helps the time go by faster, but you don’t get interrupted by phone calls or knocks on the door. You can just live in the story. And it is especially nice for those who can’t read in the car. I hope you get to try it some time soon, Virginia!
