After Almost 10 Years . . .

March 18, 2025 by readanotherpage 8 Comments

Can you believe it’s been almost 10 years since I started blogging on Read Another Page? Crazy to think about.

It will be 10 years come August. In those 10 years I’ve posted regularly every Tuesday. Sometimes I’ve posted other times like during the Five Fall Favorites, or my 24-Books-before Christmas series. I’ve had guest posts, interviews, book reviews, new books announced, tips on writing and cover design, stories about how some of my stories grew into published books, and so much more!

It’s been fun. Until it wasn’t.

Last year things shifted for me. Life was crazy busy and blog posts were something I had to write and schedule ahead of time because I was so busy. It was great when I didn’t have to think about what to write because they were already scheduled.

And then January came.

Life didn’t slow down, and I was once again frantically trying to come up with ideas for posts, write and schedule them. It wasn’t fun.

That’s when I suddenly stopped one day and took a look at my blog. For the last year I have been averaging 2-5 likes per post, with an occasional comment here and there. For the 10 years I’ve poured into this blog I have just over 100 followers. That’s not even 1 new follower a month! So I asked myself, “Why am I pouring all this time and energy and effort into something that won’t grow? Is it worth it?”

I’m sure you know the answer.

No. It’s not.

But don’t panic yet. I’m not going to completely shut this blog down. But I’m not going to be posting every week either. I’ll post when I have something to share. A new book, an audio just released, maybe promoting someone else’s book that I really liked. Maybe some blog parties, or a post because I have time and want to. I do want to continue the series about book series that I’ve been doing.

All that to say, I’m going to let this blog relax. Just like I need to do. If you don’t want to check it every week, make sure you are signed up to get it by email.

Thanks to those of you who read and support my writing! It means a lot to know there are followers who enjoy my books and my posts.

I remember coming across some of your books on a homeschool website years ago! That’s how I “met” you. I don’t remember what website it was. Anyway, I was intrigued and I started chatting with you and here we are all these years later! From Nano to KDWC.
    Hugs!!

Aw, thanks, Amy! Yes, it’s been a long time, but it’s been good. I’m glad we “met” all those years ago. Nano, Next Door, KDWC. *hugs*

This is one of my favorite blogs, and I’m glad you’re not completely closing it, Rebekah. I’m also glad you are stepping back now that you need to! I very much relate to how difficult it can be to constantly put out new content.

I’m kind of on the opposite journey right now moving toward blogging from the constant pressure of social media, so this was interesting to read. I hope you enjoy your rest and lots of writing time!

🙂 I had to smile when I read that you were leaving social media and going to focus on blogging. We are on different journeys right now. I’m not doing much on IG now and I don’t know if I ever will, but for now that’s easier for me. Thanks, I’m already enjoying the freedom of not blogging. 😀
